So what gun will you be toting Saturday morning?

I will be hunting public land and getting back to the basics by carrying an open sighted Marlin 336W that I picked up this past summer.

My backup gun will be a scoped Remington ADL .270 that I'll use later in the weekend when hunting a food plot.

Savage model 111 in .270 with the accutrigger. Bought it this spring, so it'll be my first season with this gun.

I'll be taking my new Tikka CTR .308 on its inaugural hunt.

I'll be toting the work bag but come Monday evening I'll have my 308!!!

If I don't go duck hunting I will be hunting either with my Mossberg 835 Trophy Slugster with Hornady SST's, or my "custom" Mosin Nagant 91/30 with 180gr SP's. The mosin already has taken Coues deer out west, so I'm sure I could knock down any Texas bruiser within a few hundred yards if need be. Good luck everybody!

my son will have my old reliable .270/700 and for the first time, I am taking my new Ruger Super Redhawk with Leupold scope. It's ready to go and I am ready to have a my first hand gun hunt!

I know it will limit me in distance, but I have loaded a great round and practiced and I am ready for this challenge!

I don't know why I even bother to carry one since I never shoot anything, but just so I won't look stupid I'll probably tote my trusty 7 mag or my brand new custom 25-06. Actually the video camera is much more likely to get a shot than my rifle is.

I will have my go-to gun. Remington model 700 .243 shooting Winchester ballistic silvertip 95 grain (been that combination for years and years).
I will have my AR 15 for my open sight gun for hogs.
I am going to take my new(ish) Winchester featherweight .308 shooting Barnes Vortex 168 grain. Taking it just because I like to have options and I still haven't spilled any blood with it. If a boar comes out I will utilize it then...or if I decide to take a red deer.
And of course my Kimber .45 that is always on my hip when I am at the ranch...well, it's always on my hip when I am in Texas, just a matter of if it can be seen or not haha!

Bottom line is if there is a zombie apocalypse opening weekend, they don't want to start any chit with me!!!

WOW... That has to be just about the second reference to a Parker-Hale hunting rifle I've seen/heard in 30 years.
My Mom bought my Dad a Parker-Hale .30-06 for Christmas in 1972 or 1973. Then Dad bought a Leupold 3X9 for it. Dead balls on accurate gun. I shot my first turkey with it. It became my go to loaner gun for years when anybody needed a gun to hunt with. Anybody could pick it up and shoot it accurately with no adjustments needed. My friends killed more deer with it than Dad did.
Dad died in 2007 and I've been in sort of a pissing match with my sister and brother-in-law over it since.
But I have all the good memories with it so I guess that's a win.

Put a new Peep Tube on the .308 Boom Stick and will take the little Howa .223 Head Gun in case a Slick Head stares in a unsatisfactory manner with no regard to Life..

Have come full circle I guess. My old 270 and 300 win mag will sit at home. I will be taking my Remington 700 ADL in 243 that my grandfather gave me for Christmas in 1978. I couldn't wait to move up to a real gun and retired the 243 when I was 15 and bought my 270. Now at 46, I enjoy the little 243 again.

Joshua will be shooting the Ithaca 7mag he inherited from his great uncle. I figure the 7 mag will bark before, and much more often than my 243.

Thank you Sir. Joshua dropped a doe Sunday with my grandfather's 1943 model 94 30-30. Even at his young age, he likes nostalgia and loves to use guns handed down from the older generations.

Still deciding between the old Ruger 77 tang safety in .280 or, the real handy, tried and true Ruger 77 compact Mk II in .260. Both are topped with Nikon Buckmasters. My son will carry his Ruger 77 in .257 Rbts and we will sit together in The Double.

On Saturday morning I will be using my new to me Marlin 1894 cowboy limited in 44mag and shooting 250gr Winchester Platinum tip HP.

.270, 5.56 and maybe the crossbow can't decide which I wanna shoot more.

2nd season for my Tikka T3 Lite SS .270. Just put a Burris C4 4-14.5 on it, and practiced to 470 yards :-). Also bringing my old BLR pre-81 .243, and the CVA Elite Stalker .35 Whelen. On 4 day trip, I might give them all a turn. And..... Marlin 917V .17HMR for Turkeys.

5th year with my Tikka T3 Lite 30-06. Will have a Sig 226 9mm on my hip. May possibly bring the AR-15 for Hogs.

Also may purchase a 6.8 SPC upper for the AR. If that happens I'll try hunting deer with that, none of my shots will be over 150 - 200 yrds. Anyone have any experience with the 6.8?

New to me Sako 75 270 with Zeiss HD5 3-15x42. I used my dad's Sako L579 243 since 1998 but the deer are bigger up around Breckenridge so why take the chance?

It's still a toss up for me! Bring the 'Ol Tikka T3 in .270, or the new 6.8 spc????? Hmm...........

I'll have my grandpa's old winchester model 70 in .270 most likely. Other options are.. Remington 700 CDL in .223 or my Matthews Reezen. Will probly sit in the big box blind in the morning with the .270, and hit the tree stand with the bow in the afternoon.

Found this post a little late. I carried my Rem 700 CDL 25-06 loaded with 115gr Barnes TSX handloads with Nikon Monarch scope. It founds its mark when the sun came up.

The wife took a nice 8pt Sat morning with her "new to her" old Ruger compact in 250 Savage. Did the job nicely
