Young 8 point got in my hog trap. Video

I have been trapping hogs on our place for over 10 years and have never had this happen. Set the hog trap on Thursday morning in hope of getting some hog meat, in the way to the blind this morning it was empty. My cousin sent me a text that there was a buck in the trap and that we might have to kill it to get it out. I said we'd get it out and headed that way. He was totally gassed and bleeding pretty bad from the mouth from banging around. I put a rope in the gate to raise it and after a bit of coaxing he finally took off. Glad he was ok and we got him out, nice young 8.

About 5 yrs ago I had the same thing happen! I caught a nice buck and he had busted his rack and mouth all up. He probably busted some teeth but he finally ran out and away good. Not totally sure if he lived but I think I saw him a few months later.

I'm hoping he's ok. Young buck with a lot if potential, especially for east texas

Ya, I have caught 3 WT's this year, I don't know what's going on. I got all 3 out unharmed, I ended up moving my trap.

We caught one also this year about a week ago. One of the guys had to put him down cause his mouth was too busted up. We feared that he might not be able to eat. We even have a low clearance on the door so he had to get down pretty low to get in. We are going to cut part of the top out of the trap so the deer can just jump out if it happens again. Sad deal.

Yeah this one's mouth was bloody but didn't seem to be bad enough to put him down. Hopefully I'll see him again and be able to confirm he's ok

I won't use those traps anymore after catching WT. I make the hog panel traps with a trap door and catch a bunch more. Sold everyone of those I had.

Old trick passed down: mix some used motor oil in with the corn. will keep deer out and still attract hogs.

Yeah diesel works well too, its just that I have been trapping hogs for so long out there and even in that same spot, but have never had a WT get in a trap.
