No way he has a 13 inch inside spread. Not really good pictures for aging.

He is real close but I think he is 12" to just under 13". Looking at pic his left ear looks like it is slightly turned back and not out to give you a good reference. I say not legal in AR county. I would need a better pic or see in person before I would take a chance.

I think he is right there if not right under, read something the other day on here that was great advise. Send picture to your GW that is in charge of that area and see what he says. He will be the one writing the ticket. good luck to you

pretty rack but that fact that most of us have to look that close pretty much sums it up, I would pass...I want to know the sory behind about the 2 legged feeder...third leg is a tree...

With mld3 permit in hand, that's a good one to shoot if someone just has to pull the trigger. I'm going w/ 4.

I'd pull the trigger, sweat a little then breath a sigh of relief.
I don't think he has seen his forth birthday. IMHHO! smile

Re: Help Aging and is he Legal? - 10/16/12 12:08 PM

It actually does have all 3 legs on the feeder. We had to get a little fancy if that's the term you wanna use because we have had some trouble with cows that escaped from a nearby farm when the fence got busted and the owner made no attempt to retrieve or fix the issue. So after about 2 feeders getting completely destroyed by them we started strapping them to trees.

He's definitely 13"+ and a decent shooter depending on the deer in your area. I always look at the ears; if he's a good size deer and wider than the ears at full alert, he'll measure out. As for age, I would say around 3- 3.5 years just from the sag in his bag. Not much of a brow. Here is a good site for reference. http://www.1atexasdeerhunting.com/bodyagingdeer.htm

I say NOT legal and THIS is the reason I HATE ARs! I see bucks like this alot and I would normally shoot them (I don't CARE how old they are)but with ARs I'm afraid to.

I'd have to pass...

He needs a dirt nap imo. Whether or not he is 13" it is tough to tell. He is a large body deer that may be skewing how wide he looks a little towards the small side. Show the GW if you have a chance and get their take on it.

Re: Help Aging and is he Legal? - 10/16/12 06:26 PM

the feeder does have 3 legs we strap it to the tree so cows will not tear it down but here are some more pics of the guy in question

Back Right

Walking in on left side

anyone have an idea on age let me know and I will try and contact a GW see what he thinks on if he makes ARs but if not I will wait for next year

Re: Help Aging and is he Legal? - 10/17/12 01:46 PM

Maybe I am wrong but I look at the distance between brow tines. If that is gauged as 6" then I compare the space from each tine to the outside. I use the ears to. You can always use a horn stretcher! LOL
