Not the best place to hunt. Deer are few and far between. Had a lease there 2 years ago and saw one deer on 2000 acres....Good luck...

Good news is that there are mule deer in Childress county but they are spotty. Some places have them and some dont.
The other good news is that $500 is very cheap for the area.
The bad news is that depending on the cover that much land in Childress county will only support one or maybe two hunters on a sustained basis unless the bordering places aren't being hunted at all.

I have a friend that hunts in Childress and they took 3 b&c's last year! And some really nice mulies! I recon it just depends on the lease. But fgor $500.00 you cant go wrong especially for that country! Good luck too ya

Which part of the county is it in?

With good cover it should be pretty decent, but with little cover its going to be tough. My buddy shot a 156 WT last season and saw some way bigger but had already filled his tag!

$500 a gun is a good price. What area are you hunting? There are good mule deer in the county, but it depends on what area in Childress county you hunt. I've not seen one mule deer in 2+ years on our section, which is 20 miles north of Chldress and 7 miles north of the red river. My buddy's 100 acres just west of Childress was literally over-ran with them. They were mostly does, but 100's of them basically grazed around like cattle, and weren't scared of anything. There's so many there that they probably should get the owner to get proper tags to thin out the herd some.

I own a place about 20 miles south of Childress. Lots of WT. And, lots of mullies IF you have wheat on your place or very near by. We see plenty of big bucks every year.

$500 for a 600 acre place is a GREAT deal. Jump on it!

Great deal and a great price. Deer numbers can be few in some areas, but the size can make up for the numbers if you have a lot of time on your hands.
