Burnet County (near Bertram, Texas) Hunting - 06/06/12 06:29 PM

Anyone have any feedback on deer size, antler size around Bertram Texas? Just got a lease up there this past weekend, don't know much about the area.

Might have room for one more hunter as well, haven't decided for sure though.

Pictures would be greatly appreciated!!

I hunt Burnet County right outside of Marble Falls. Here are three bucks I have taken in the last couple years. They are not monsters compaired to South Texas, but they are decent Burnet county bucks.

Buck on the right was 19 inch inside spread

Where is the lease located? Have several friends who have ranches in the area. I have never seen any big bucks in that area. Don't know why either. I know there use to be alot of goats and sheep around there, not sure if there still is or not. My cousin owned about 120 acres on 29 between Burnet and Bertram, she had alot of deer but no big ones.

Lots of deer but not big...

Feed some protein and in a couple of years you will be better off. Also, shoot the spikes lots in that area...

I took a place west of Burnet county just to have a place to go.(Llano county). Prolly not much difference. Opening morning last year, a 1.5 year old 4 point was shot. My lease is temporary due to 2.5 year old deer are "shooters". We have enough deer, but they fear for their lives. I gotten a few glimpses of good deer, but with the shooters on our place and around us, they will never grow up to their potential. One good thing, great camping.
Man, I need to find a new place....
