I don't I would count on any trophy bucks in Eastland Co and your not going to see many that meets AR's, but then a trophy is in the eye of the beholder

There are definitely trophy deer in the western and NW part of Eastland County. Two distinct types of vegetation from the eastern and western side. Western side has good soil, mesquite and pear flats and lots of wheat fields. 150-170 inch deer are taken every year.

I used to own the spot where Eastland, Comanche, and Brown counties join. Big deer came through there occasionally but not spotted regularly.

Not trying to give our county a bad name, but there's a lot of pressure here. I don't know what the going rate is, but everybody must hunt here for some reason. I agree with all of what is said above....even Tye.....he's got squat on his place. I'd like to think this buck would be a shooter to any hunter here....low 140's(?) And I'll be dern if he was shot right next door.

I didnt say I didn't have squat.... I meant that it cost me nothing. As a whole, our deer are down from years prior. A 140's type deer would be a shooter in parts of the county and would be considered a monster. I can honestly only talk about the northeast portion. Been there since 1989. The genetics aren't the best, but if a deer can survive the pressure, 150s isn't out of the question. They are definately few and far between

This one got the pass, but it's easier when a HF is involved wink

One of the biggest deer I ever saw was just outside of Eastland.

I didn't mean that, Tye.....I thought you were being sarcastic about having a herd. I see now what your "nothing" means.

As far as pricing, I wish I could help you.

P&Y, those are some good ones there and they don't seem to mind the ladder one bit:). Please take a look at some pics I put in the Young County Report thread and provide any input.

Thanks,

Pope&Young, that narrow buck looks real familiar, I wonder how far apart our places are in Eastland County. On a different PC I have pics of one that looks a lot like him.

Best buck I have pics of in Eastland county, Never did get this buck but he sure was a lot of fun to hunt. I was told that on one of the neighboring properties they found a dead buck in the creek that scored in the upper 160s, I figured this one would be in the mid to upper 150s from the other pics and the one sighting I had of him the year this pic was taken

kmon1, I'm hunting southwest of Eastland near the town of Carbon.
How about you?

Then we may not be that far apart. I am north east of Carbon between there and Cisco, about half way between those 2 towns

We have a place in Callahan county on Eastland county line. The density is not real high and most neighbors don't lease out their land, just hunted by family on holidays etc.,so very light pressure and the deer have a chance to get some age on them.I saw one a few years ago that looked like he would go close to 160-165, and very big body. You can't kill a big one if you soot them when their small.
