Did anybody hear about this? - 11/29/07 02:30 PM

A deer on HWY82 five miles east of Gainesville got hit by a truck. The deer was a 8 point that had a 29in. spread and 17in. G2's. My buddy told me about it and they saw the deer and guessed his score to be about 180 to the 190's. Just curious if anyone up there heard about this deer?

I used to do a lot of duck hunting up there on the red river... seen some real big bucks in that area. Keep in mind... Haggarman is right there too and we all know the monsters that come out of there.

Re: Did anybody hear about this? - 11/30/07 04:02 AM

this is what it would take for an eight point to 180 to 200 ....lets do the math....
6 in G 1 .............12 in
17 inch G2 's x 2.....34 in.
12 in G 3's x 2.......24 in let's go world class on main beam...30 in.x2.......60
mass..bases ..6 in....12
2nd mes..5 in..x 2....10
3rd mes..5 in.x 2.....10
4 th mes..4.5 x 2..... 9
spread...rumor is.... 29

total................200

I was in the taxidermy this afternoon and a guy brought in a buck from OKL. with mass like I put on this buck....it was a cool story he saw it swimming across the river...waited for it to get on land and shot it...he had a pic. of the deer in the river he was setting in camp when he saw the deer in the river ...

Ok I live about 5 miles east of Gainesville off 82. Where exactly was this deer hit? This is fairly close to the cooke county and grayson county border. I 2 miles off 82 across from shooters.

Deer hunters are like Fishermen...everything grows a few inches by the time you get to the Dock / Camp!!

Driving to Lubbock the Tuesday before Turkey Day, I drove most of the way popping my KC lights on/off after Seymour on Hwy 380...there were A LOT of deer on and around the road. Saw a deer that was big enoiugh to make me turn around dead on the side...fresh... and it was a 170 class 10 point...just 12 miles East of the 6666's Ranch. Came back after Turkey day and someone had cut the head off!

Re: Did anybody hear about this? - 12/03/07 02:31 PM

Thats crazy, still a heck of a deer!

Mr.Clean that HWY is what we call the HWY of dreams! We drive that way when we got to our lease on the Pitchfork and then once you get onto HWY82 or 114 that goes straight by the 6666's and the Pitchfork HQ. You will see some deer at night on that HWY that will blow your mind. Heck if you drive past the 6666's during the middle of the day there's hundreds of deer in the wheat fields up front!

Re: Did anybody hear about this? - 12/03/07 02:46 PM

what is 6666's

Posted By: MontagueBowBuster

Re: Did anybody hear about this? - 12/03/07 04:38 PM

Four Six's ranch, it neighbors the Pitchfork ranch. Between the two ranches they probably own close to a half-million acres! The four six's doesnt even get hunted except for a couple ranch hands. Its a big horse ranch thats deals with race horses for the most part. If your ever driving to Lubbock I would urge you to drive past the ranch on HWY 114 and glance over at the wheat fields. You will probably see a hundred to two hundred deer in the middle of the day out there!
