Tire Slime Recommendations

I just picked up some new tires/rims for my Kubota 900 and wanted to slime them before I put them on. Does anyone have any recommendations for "slime" type products? When I first bought it, the dealership used some white looking stuff in the tires. It seems like the green slime seems to be the most popular thing I see everywhere. I just don't know if it's the best stuff, if there is something better or if they are all pretty much the same. This is mainly to guard against cactus neeeles and thorns in the hill country.

I've used Green Slime and something called, I think, Bull Snot. Both worked quite well. I keep a supply of Slime on hand.

Couple of years ago, a bothersome neighbor stopped off at my barn with a right rear tire that was blowing air out of a hole the size of a 22 bullet. Said he heard it whistling as he got to my gate. He couldn't get his spare loose. Thought I'd never get rid of him. This was time for emergency use of Slime. Only option I had. So I pumped the tire with a good dose of Slime and fired up the big compressor. The hole spit Slime for a bit, but the air flow slowed and then stopped. I filled the tire with air and he, against my advice, drove 150 miles back to Houston. There might be stuff as good or even better, but Slime works just fine.

Been using some stuff called Berrymans from O'Reiley auto parts. Get it in a gallon jug and a quart in each tire does really well.

The OP's mention of the Hill Country brings to mind my first experience with Mesquite thorns. Up until a bunch of us got a lease in that area, I had hunted in Louisiana all my life (no thorns of any size). So I brought my Slime-less ATV to the new lease, and my buddy brought his brand new Polaris 6 wheel ATV. Next morning, after a hard work day on the lease, we had a total of 10 flats. Found a WalMart and bought a bunch of Slime.

Prior to the advent of tire sealer compounds, an old guy that ran a lease in South Texas pumped milk into the tires.

The slime in my first set of tires broke down into a liquid and started running. I have not yet put anything in my new tires.

Have had slime in front tractor tires in south texas thorny brush country since 2009 and had slime in my riding mower which mows around a bunch of mesquite since 2012. It works great for thorns.

Is there better? I don't know maybe maybe not, but for the performance, cost, and ease of getting the stuff slime is probably all ill ever buy.

I agree and use Multi-Seal also in my Ranger tires.

I guess all of you know not to pull the thorns out.

My best recommendation is should you ever end up at a tire shop with a slimed tire tell them beforehand. That can be a nasty surprise while breaking a bead.

I’ve tried almost every product available, even the $108 per gallon bomb proof, military endorsed ultra mega multi super sealants guaranteed to seal the most ridiculous claims made.
Plenty of headaches & runarounds when the products fail to work as advertised.

For the last several years I've been using Power Sports puncture seal in everything that needs sealant.
Like it so much I've broke down at least a dozen tires & washed out other products & replaced it with Power Sports.

Our local tire shop put Magnum Sealitup in my front tractor tires. It has held up to several mesquite punctures, so far. I use Berryman's in my 4 wheelers, mower, etc. No complaints.

Check out TireJect. Works great. Won't matter much on a tractor but on UTV/ATV's it doesn't create the balance issues that slime does.

I buy some stuff at the Kubota dealer that is some industrial grade stuff with ground up rubber in it. works like a charm on my tractors. no clue on what the brand name is but will try to remember to look when I am at home.

Multi Seal is good stuff...

I make my own slime, use it on everything. pretty cheap to

1 jug anti freeze
4 tubes of 99 cent latex caulk
4 rolls of toilet paper (can substitute shredded paper but you have to let that soak for a few days)

the hardest part, make plastic shavings with the used caulk tubes and a aggressive file, the more shavings the better, I try and go for at least a solo cup full.

mix it all in a 5 gal bucket with a drill and a drywall mixer. works awesome.

oh and you can substitute the antifreeze for the wintertime window washer fluid. makes it even cheaper.
