This was a shotr bed chevy 3 on the tree bored and stroked 327, open headers no seat belts, a few drunks flew out of the driver seat. Only the left front brake worked. Had to hold tight to the wheel when stopping or else it would turn.

I keep this ole girl around just of the deer lease. Bought it brand new in '02 and nobody will give me what I want so I've just kept her around. 11 MPG and going strong.

Nice trucks boys.

Haven't even made the first payment yet. Going to level it out and add some all terrains here soon, and a replacement front bumper. Heated and cooled leather seats sure are nice. Also going to do Weather tech floor mats

Bought from a member. Put some work into it and works like a rented mule. Runs like a sewing machine and I have yet to stick it. Yes, I have tried.

Much blood and much alcohol has been spilled and drank in it.

86. Drove it to blind this morning. Heat on and walking thru 12" of mud in 1st gear. Sure beats the .4 wheeler.

I built big mud trucks for years and am very impressed with what the little girl can do. Plus it is extremely reliable. Always starts and just keeps rolling along.

Re: Let's see your huntin rig! - 11/23/15 04:45 AM

I'm jealous. I had the chance to buy a first gen when I bought mine but since it was my daily driver for a year I went with the newer model. Those solid front axle's have a lot of advantages.

My hunting and daily driver rig. It's nice to go down the highway and turn into any ranch anywhere and just keep rolling on. Don't have to switch trucks or unload Rangers or nothing just put this thing in four low and it will get there.

Work-in-progress; may not make it to the lease this year at this rate. I call it "the bloodmobile", somewhat hopefully, and the wife calls it "the money pit." Since I just took this picture leaving it at the shop for the third time just now, she might have a point.

Re: Let's see your huntin rig! - 11/23/15 05:02 PM

Broncos have got to be some of the best offroad projects out there. V8 (or the stump puller i6) and decent axles out of the box and they're affordable compared to some other vehicles.

Drop the top and put a bolt-in rack on it and you have a hell of a rig when you need it.

About 8 lol. It's definitely a long truck, but back when I was racing dirt bikes I had to have a long bed to put my bike and all of my gear and still be able to shut the tailgate. It sure rides nice though with all the suspension I've changed up.

My college truck (97 Nissan hardbody king cab 4x4) has been sitting at my parents for about 5 years now with a blown head gasket and some other problems. When she died I had 33x12.50 Hancook mud terrains on her and she was literally unstoppable at the ranch even in the thickest clay. One day I'll muster up the courage and the $$$ to get it back in shape and I'll have me a nice huntin buggy like yall!

Most likely everything that's rubber or cork is rotten and will leak. If you need help, advice or tools shoot me a PM.

Thanks, I might take you up on that when I get it to my garage. I have already started making a list of what I need to get parts wise but would help having someone that has been through these before to make sure I didn't miss anything.

85 4X4 2500 with 4sp stick, granny gear and 4L this thing will get through/over almost anything. Bought it 4 yrs ago from a customer of mine after I semi restored it for him, he lost interest and I picked it up. It was camo wrapped but not a good job so I stripped it, satin black paint job and in the process of putting a high rack on it. The only other thing I need to do is quiet it down, 5.7l with a magnaflow dual is noisy as hell. Also put manual locking hubs in the front, more reliable...

2002 4x4, bought from a customer with a bad trans for 1000 bucks. Paint peeling but nice, spent a couple grand on it in repairs and have a nice truck for 3k, very quiet too even with the 5.3...

I bought this S10 blazer off of CL for a song. I've had to put a little work into it, but it has been a great hunting truck. We just carry the hitch haul on the roof until we need it to collect some game. A couple of weeks ago I discovered the 4x4 wasn't working (doh!) I tracked down the issue to a rubber diaphragm on a vacuum actuator that locks the front diff. My son and I fixed it with vice grips and a zip tie. farmer

How well does that work in sand? Would it go in a dry sandy river bed? I know where I might be able to get a gas one, but afraid I would be spending time digging out rather than hunting!!! Is that a 4x4?

Almost done, just need to add some nylon spacers and nylock nuts so I can fold it all donw to fit in the barn. Seats are from a 05 Yukon 3rd row with some bases I threw together out of scrap. Seat up against cab is out of a 04 Savana 15 pass van, and all have seat belts. Have 2 more bench seats to try and do something else with. Need to come up with a better ladder, that one is a ramp from a trailer and is damn heavy, then some covers to protect the seats from rain if that were to happen, then take the truck and wash it.

1992 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a Mustang HO 5.0, GT40P heads and Explorer Intake, F150 M5ODR2 5 speed manual trans and NP205 transfer case. Plenty of oomph and cruises the 45 miles to the ranch and back with no problem. Still narrow enough to get through all the brush and skinny roads on the ranch.

Good looking truck. I bought my Eco diesel in January and love it so far. I have a level kit on and 33's and 24 on the highway is very consistent so far and around 20 in town. My old Hemi never came close.

Thanks

I drive about 40 miles round trip to work and have been averaging 26 mpg hand calc with factory tires. It doesn't look like it, but it is 4x4 and has 3.55 gears.

We've got an electrician that has bought about ten of those Eco diesels for company trucks and swears by them, I can see where they'd be handy!

The only thing that scares me about it is the emissions system and reports of several of the motors grenading for no apparent reason... although I don't want that problem seems like they have all been under warranty.

I have a towing package on mine, 3.92 gears. I've been watching these trucks since the were introduced in '14 and have not heard any negative comments on them yet. Hopefully there's no issues that develop with them.

It was a female - taxi said she is the biggest female he has ever seen -he threw her on a scale before skinning and she was right at 29lb. I am waiting for the mount to be finished 8-9months. I shot at her mate during bow season and he appeared to be 4 inches taller than her by seeing him pass in front of a t post with height markers painted on them. I was still able to put a arrow over the top of his back even as tall as he was LOL . Since I got this one I may let the other one walk if I see him again. we are also seeing more Bob's in other area of the lease on cams but they don't appear to be as big

Just a couple of pics from the lease this weekend. Only 2 weeks old and making a name for itself. For a midsize truck, this does everything I want/need and then some. If you look at the middle pic, you can see my partner in crime. Glorified house dog extraordinaire

I have three, all have a time and place to use. First is a 99' F250 with V10 great for summer time use because of the AC

Re: Let's see your huntin rig! - 06/11/16 06:18 PM

Next is my 88' Sammi, this is great for filling my tall feeders and working around the lease. I can haul as much corn on it as I can the F250. Here it is with 30 bags of corn.

Here is my 16' mule. It's just a bad arse ride. Used more for bird hunting and sporting clays.

Here's mine - but I always wonder what might would work better. I don't think there is a perfect solution.

Duckcoach, I do like that black GMC very sharp.

Nitron, most usable vehicle the '88 Sammi. 30 bags of corn and no ladder needed.

My new Golf Cart. A friend let me cruise the lease last year on his and I saw more animals that I'd every seen before. Sold the quad and bought a bone stocker from Affordable Carts in San Marcos. A few weeks and a couple night of wrenching and I am almost ready to go. Just need gun racks.

Here's the old girl with 1,000 lbs. of corn in the back last Saturday. Heavy duty Old Man Emu springs barely compressed, and she rode SMOOTH when loaded.

it's a '99 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 series.

No pics yet, it's stock still, but I just picked up another Jeep WJ. Got one with the 4.7 and the varilok LSDs this time around, the 4.0 is a bit of a dog in these heavier jeeps.

I'll post pics once I finish tearing it apart. laugh

The '97 five speed stick 4WD two door Explorer has got dang near 60K miles on it so we're giving it to a couple of nephews (they're twins) for their first gitty-up-go. They're electronics wiz's too so they're probably gonna love the the in-dash HF radio from Abu Dhabi. Too bad these new vehicles these days have all that computer screen garbage there in the big middle of the dash board. It'll be fun hearing about the mods they do to up the reception.

I believe the SUV is a Toyota Fortuner which is similar to our 4Runner. I would love a diesel Hilux or Tacoma.
