Stone Skinner Knife - 08/22/23 02:21 PM

Put this little skinner together yesterday. Was attempting to flute a Clovis point and ended up losing a corner so decided to turn it into a knife blade and haft it.

Blade is made of dacite obsidian, handle is from a mule deer shed i found in CO, leg sinew from the elk i shot in October, and pitch glue made from trees in my backyard.

Yep,

Flutes are tricky under the best of circumstances. You never know what kind of inclusions/fractures already exist in the stone.

But the piece didn't go to waste. up
