Regarding how long I spend chasing flight shots, it might not be as long as some think as most of my wildlife shots are taken within a 30-45 minutes window before sunset as ducks fly into good light as they return to the roost. It’s the same time the osprey is usually fishing.
As an example, the osprey shot above and the wings down redhead shot were taken within 30 minutes of each other on the same day, same location.
By design, my primary shooting location is very close and favors afternoon shots. During the winter and early spring, when ducks are roosting in the area, I try to schedule a couple of days a week with good light where I can take an hour break before sunset to chase a few shots. Thanks again.
