BBD "SPLITS" DOWN - 11/08/20 06:07 PM
So a little backstory on my buck this year we call "Splits".
I first started noticing this buck in 2017 and he was a main frame 7 pt and he had a distinctive split g2 on left side at I believe 3 years old.
The next year he put on a lot of mass and added another small split on the opposite g2. He was really starting to get tempting at this point just with his uniqueness and character. I end up taking a very nice 9pt the last day of bow season 2018 with Splits at the same feeder.
2019 comes around and he is a hoss of a buck and has his best rack yet. Well as luck would have it he ended up vacating my area after rubbing out of velvet and pretty much lived in my brother's area. He quickly became my brother's #1 target and hunted him hard through bow season and most of November before he would finally get his opportunity at him. My brother shot him and had very little blood and lost the trail after about 70 yards or so. After my brother, a couple of other lease buddies and myself spent several hours we gave up the search empty handed. He never showed back up on camera so we figured he was lost forever somewhere in the woods.
Fast forward to just before bow season I am sitting in my stand and I see 2 bucks coming to my feeder and it's "Splits". I can't believe it. I text my brother that Splits is at my South feeder. He had lost some tine length on his splits but he added a right g3. As the season draws near I don't get any pictures of him on camera but he starts showing up for my brother. Well he eludes my brother most of bow season before he ends up taking a very nice 10pt. To my surprise though Splits has started showing back up in my area on my cameras. I start picking my bow stand carefully as to which one he might possibly show up at. Well he shows up at my main bow feeder on the 2nd but as soon as the feeder goes off and he starts to come into view a group of pigs run him off. I wasn't 100% sure it was him due to the low light but after checking cameras it was definitely him.
