Couple of Good Days. - 11/27/18 12:32 PM

Went hunting Wednesday afternoon and Thursday am and the usual suspects showed up including a new main frame 8 with a crab claw that needs to be culled.
Then I went out Sunday am in that nice breeze nuts

Wednesday evening a lot of deer nothing picture worthy, Thursday am (Thanksgiving) got a little interesting when a nice young 8 was pigging out in the feeder when the new crab claw 8 showed up and took over the feeder. Ended the morning watching the birds munch on the sumac berries.

Sunday am just 3 deer out in the wind. In the afternoon it got real interesting, there were 9 deer in the field already, I have the binocs scanning the edges and Dayum about 185 yards out in the mesquite trees behind the feeder there he was, sun glistening off all of his big antlers my heart jumping thinking Big Mac Daddy with about 14 points is about to walk into the food plot banana2
Turns out it was my young friend the big 8, he was standing partially behind a mesquite tree facing me and with the sun glistening off his antlers and the branches blending in. Man I was excited and ready to finally rifle Like I said it turned out to be my young friend and I was glad to see him back chasing the girls.

How wide inside spread do you think he has, 20"?

DQ I think he will make the 20" but do not want to ground check him for I am guessing he is 4.5? and one more good year could be a real stud up

Besides the 20" questions, how old do you think he is?

I would say he's a 3.5 year old.

If that dude could get a couple more years on him he'll be a jaw dropper up

You could be right Stub, the more I looked at that awesome spread of his, 20" is probably pretty good estimate. Age, think he's 4-4.5 tops. Great genes on him.

Another year of clean living and he could push 145-150" for an 8 which is saying a lot...

I got to cull crab claw out pdq he is running the 8 off and on small tracts that is the last thing I want to see is one of my neighbors shoot him for the antlers only bang

I let one of my neighbors 14 year old boy hunt him Sunday evening, he came out like clock work but came in early and behind the feeder and stayed in it until dark.
It was fun watching him get excited, we will get him.
Next time i will turn the afternoon throw off and he will have to come out into the field and eat the corn I throw out there for the rest of them nidea

Went out for a Sunday evening hunt, got there around 1:30 suppose to meet the game warden for I have a poacher on the loose there. Get to my blind and someone had already been there, this is the second episode that I know. of bang

Started off slow but ended nicely with 16 deer in the field and at the feeder at the same time, the big 8 & crab claw both made an appearance. Sorry about the pic it was late and all I could get.

Still hoping that a bigun will show before the party is over.
