Really am Thankful - 12/10/14 08:19 PM
Went out over the Thanksgiving break and enjoyed all the family time and food a man can ask for. Also got to hit the woods for 4 straight days of uninterrupted, no rush, do whatever I want type of hunting. It was magical to say the least. I sat in my bow blind, rifle blind, spot and stalked and scouted new bow blind sites to my hearts desire. I was really wanting to take a mature buck with my bow and have several on the hit list. One buck that sits at #2 is a nice tall 10 point we named Too Tall. He's not wide but really tall for our area. Well, Saturday morning he made a big mistake and showed up about 7:20 that morning. I was in the rifle blind because of the really high wind that morning and the 300 win mag fed him some lead. This buck was very impressive on the hoof because of his height. I haven't had the shakes shooting at deer in several years but this guy had my scope all over the dern place. It seemed to relight a fire I didn't realize that had burned out, or even down. Since taking this buck all I can think about is hunting. I haven't been this focused on deer hunting in years. That's one thing that really makes this buck special to me. He happens to also be my best scoring buck yet at 137.
