The verdict is in: Quite dead. - 11/26/14 04:02 PM
Posted a couple weeks ago about my neighbor putting a less than ideal shot on a buck and not recovering it.
Beautiful morning to walk in the woods after seeing a bunch of does on stand.
After walking 1000 yards of creek line looking for a dead deer, I came back through a game trail I knew lead to my feeder. About 50 yards behind it I caught a whiff of dead animal. Heard a weird noise and looked up to see 5-6 buzzards. I still didn't think it was the buck because I shot a 200 lb boar a month or so ago and there wasn't a trace of him 3 days later. Followed the smell up wind and sure enough, found the buck within about 10 minutes.
He's bigger than he looks. Inside was 15.5 and he had good mass. This is a very nice buck for my area. He's going to do a euro. Glad it wasn't a total waste.
