Glad you like simple tools.

With rare exception, the knives I post in this section are already sold. Thanks for your interest.

Any chance that you would replicate it again for interested customer?

Re: Popcorn knife - 01/20/14 05:56 PM

Thanks for your interest, Scotty. Both of these are spoken for but the "Popcorn" is part of my model line.

Thanks for taking the time to look and/or comment. I don't think you can pack more knife into 7.5" OAL.

When's the bush monkey 'hawk coming out?
Posted By: Bush Monkey Knives

Re: Popcorn knife - 01/22/14 03:12 AM

I will make a Hawk when I get ahead of the knife making power curve and get a larger heat treating oven. I have modified and worked on the Cold Steel Hawk (below). Until I make one, the new CRKT Hawk looks like a good Hawk at a great price.

thanks for asking,

Jeff

Thanks again for looking and/or commenting. Feedback is always appreciated. The POPCORN is based off a Matt Helm design. Matt is a friend who designs and makes very fine knives.

Jeff

ps I will be finishing up a 3/16" O1 tool steel stock version of the POPCORN sometime this coming week. Stay tuned...

Re: Popcorn knife - 02/05/14 02:04 AM

Awesome looking knives! Been looking at them for a while, getting ready to pull the trigger on a few. Wanting to buy my two teenagers new hunting/skinning knives (& one for me too). Still trying to decide which one, but I really like the looks of the Javelina. The Popcorn knife looks great also! I carry a big bag of knives that I use for different parts of the cleaning process (clean a lot of pigs) and for some reason my store bought SS blades are getting harder & harder to sharpen and don't hold an edge like they used to even after I reform the angles etc...I love carbon steel blades and to be honest I don't know why I switched to SS. The best skinning knife in my bag right now is a K-Bar. Wanting to try a Bush Monkey.

That green and orange popcorn knife is mine. Just got it today! I love it. Feels great in the hand! Nice weight.

Re: Popcorn knife - 02/05/14 01:23 PM

Glad those of you who have received your Popcorn like it. This is the 3/16" O1 tool steel version heat treated blade that is ready for some bolts and scales.

I make the Popcorn with a straight or curved drop point and swedge (partially beveled) or no drop and swedge at all.

Thanks again for looking and/or commenting.

Re: Popcorn knife - 02/08/14 03:05 PM

I make the POPCORN out of 5/32" and 3/16 O1 tool steel. The single bevel to zero leaves lots of steel behind - more than a flat ground and secondary beveled POPCORN made from 1/4" steel.

thanks for looking and commenting,

Jeff

ps The working edge angle is ~1/2 of what it would be if I flat ground and secondary beveled it.
