Another "decent" year at the Honey Hole...... - 11/20/13 10:24 PM
I won't be so long winded this go around but we all had a good time and this was the first year we've hunted the first week of rifle season. The weather looked favorable and food plots were in good shape so here we go. Long story short, amidst tall tales and good food, we were able to harvest 4 deer between 5.5 - 6.5 years old.
My buddy shot his first deer with something other than his trusty Remington 700 243. Got a 260 this summer and took this guy at 230 yards with 140 grain CoreLokts......he fell in his tracks.
Biggest deer to date for my buddy A.V. A nice 10 taken at 130 yards with his 270. He was 20 1/2" inside.
My wifes 5th buck in as many years. She didn't get to hunt last year but got 2 bucks in 2011 (separate counties of course). Took this 8 with broken 3's at 230 yards with her 270 and 140 grain Hornady SST's.
Lastly, here's the one I was lucky enough to take. Another 5.5 (maybe 6.5, conflicting opinions, LoL). First Whitetail with my 264. 140 yards and plowed up the ground for about 10 feet.
Thanks for looking and hope everybody has a successful and safe rest of 2013!
