took my 12yo daughter out on opening day looking for a doe or piggies or to just clean out some raccoons. had a few does walk up but nailed us right away and hit the road. we dorked around with the caller for a little while probably scaring off anything around but it was fun. we can hear all kinds of critters in the thicket but nothing comes out to play. next thing we hear is this crazy helicopter sound. never heard anything like it. over and over again. then a loud crash in the tree right above us. it was a turkey. scared the crap out of both of us. then it was like a meteor shower of the clumsiest damn things i have ever seen. turkeys falling from the sky left and right directly above us, around us, and under us. we were having a hard time not laughing. was not prepared for it at all. all we had was the 308 and 22 mag. she takes aim with her 22mag and drops one like a rock. no flapping...kicking..nothing. as she is watching through her scope she tells me the other ones are still there and did not run away. "i want to shoot one" i asked like i was the little kid. so i did. mine dropped like a rock also but flapped a couple of times. her turkey has a 10" beard. mine was shorter but had some serious spurs on it. cant wait to cook these suckers up.
