First Ever Opening Morning Buck - 11/03/13 04:40 PM
Well for the first time ever I shot a buck on opening morning. Our place is very close to town, the population is not very big, there's super thick country around us, and deer mostly move at night so we generally don't see alot of action. Were in the far northwest portion of Callahan county about 500 yards from the Taylor county line. This buck wondered out at 8am yesterday and busted me in the blind. I managed to get my gun out and setup before he hit cover and got him to stop by whistling at him. Dropped him in his tracks at 227yards with my new Remington 700cdl sf 270wsm. We have never seen this buck on any of our cameras. Our area doesn't have much natural protein so for us this is a big buck. Called my wife to let her know and sent her a couple of pics. She showed my 3 1/2yr old son and he was so excited he made her drive him to the ranch to see it for himself. Made my morning even better. Great start to the season.
What do you guys think this one will score? His 3's were about 10" with 4" bases and a 17" inside spread
