Sorry, now I see your thoughts. The good thing is, these are not the only bucks around.

I think your camera is too close to your feeder grin

You maybe right about the location of the camera. I'll get it moved.

I have two of them this year, shame one would have been a nice 10 @ 4.5 years.

He will always be a NT on that side. Most likely as he gets older will break that antler out of the skull during the rut. I have seen quite a few bucks thru the years with this. Some become really neat looking NT bucks with age.

He is probably just shedding his velvet. I have a young buck get caught in a hog trap in the early velvet stages that looked like this in Sept. Will not effect him next year unless he is a stag. What county?

Re: What's up with this rack? - 10/04/13 08:06 PM

Top buck would get a pass on my lease just to see how NT he can get, unless that side started growing into his cheek/eye.

AR County? It's in Parker County, Tx.

Does "stag" mean anything other than "male deer"??

AR is counties with antler restrictions, not sure if Parker is or not.

Stag is a buck that was either born without nutz or injured or lost them somehow. This causes no testosterone which makes him never shed his velvet or antlers. They grow funky, small racks usually with kickers and junk everywhere.

Thanks. The way I read the antler restrictions for Parker county, he would only be a shooter if one antler was unbranched.

Tell him that's not his good side. But seriously he prob injured his cajones

Both only have 1 branched antler so they are legal.

Re: What's up with this rack? - 10/05/13 01:24 AM

Your right. This picture shows clearly that the deformed antler isn't branched.

I'd still let that buck with the broke pedicel walk. He's young and could turn into a big NT freak.
