My personal best 68 pound blue cat !


We caught 7 fish over 50 pounds !
Not a bad 4 days, we ended up with over 500 pounds of fillets !

I'm guessing you cut the tails to bleed them out, right? Caught a few Blues myself, never thought of doing this. I assume it changes the flavor. Those are some monster fish. Congrats.

I do cut tails to bleed most of the cats, smaller ones the little wife likes to fry them with the tails on.
I don't mind sharing how I fish at all, I use jugs an usually fish 50 at a time. I will catch shad in the mornings or late at night, take an cut them into pieces no bigger than a inch square. I have only caught blues where we fish. My family has been keeping big cats like that for 40 years. We only fish 3 or 4 days a year up there, last all year ! Glad you guys enjoyed them !

I don't keep all the fillets, we have some families with young kids that need little help around where we live. I think if we all helped our neighbors more like it use to be, we would sure not be in the world we are in now !

Sad to see big fish like that killed. Eat the smaller ones. Them big fish have alot of eggs. The state needs to regulate them more than they do. Nice fish just hate seeing them not catch and released.

Sad thing is I didn't catch more. I turn them back if they are not big enough to make a fillet, otherwise in the skillet ! Your right couple were full of eggs, could not believe how good crappie bite after baiting with eggs ! More regulations, let me guess you voted to keep him in office. I don't catch an release when there is so many around me that could use little extra bite to eat!
Seems the more time goes on more people just try to trash others threads by being negative an wanting to fuss! That's what's really sad !

Sorry to upset you just think the big ones need to live. I understand the lake is probably full of blues but if alot of the big ones are removed there goes the good breeder fish. Good fish tho for sure. Hope you catch some bigger just let a few live lol

Aint nothing wrong with keeping them fish there are plenty there. There are plenty left to breed and only a very small fraction of the eggs will survive to adult hood to begin with , no not because people kill them but because if they all lived the lake would be one slimy bucket overflowing with catfish in 2 years time if every egg layed lived. Its nature and she is doing just fine. Keep the CPR BS out of the THF!
