3 yr old Neice Prayers Needed

About a year ago my 3 yr old niece was diagnosed with leukemia.. She has had several operations over the last year for several different things.. This week she had to have a new medi port installed.. This year has really been up and down for my sister in law and my niece.. I am hoping 2013 is the year she beats this and gets alot better.. Its one of those things that you think will never affect you or your family.. At times my wife and I look at our 3 yr old daughter and how blessed we are that she is happy and healthy. I really wish i could swap places with my niece and take the pain away.. My sister in law called this week and said my niece was asking for me and my wife so we made the drive down this evening to Louisiana . Here are a few pictures of the strongest, most beautiful little girl i have ever seen.. Please send your prayers that my niece will get better.. Her name is Rycki Randall...

I have a friend that went to St Judes as a child. Turned into a college baseball player. His son went to St Judes before he turned 3. He's now a very happy and healthy 5 year old.

Chris, I really feel for your neice and your family. Unfortunately my family and I have made a similar journey with my 10 year old son, Gavin who fought Leukemia for 5 years, from age 2.5 to 7.5. He was diagnosed with high-risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and treated at Children's Medical Center of Dallas, a wonderful pediatric facility. I am thankful to say that he is a survivor today though dealing with some residual effects from the years of chemotherapy, primarily affecting his schooling. As I'm sure your family has come to realize, the difficult thing with this terrible disease is that "no two cases" are the same. Some children take to the therapy very well and relatively minimally affected in terms of being hospitalized and overall disruption to their lives and daily routines. Others, like my son have severe disruption to their and the family's lives. Gavin was hospitalized more than 350 nights, often weeks and even months at a time. During these trying times you often feel like an actual captive or prisoner to the disease; in a state of perpetual limbo and emotional chaos. What I can offer you is my prayers and personal empathy, as well as suggesting that you and your family "stay the course and never give up"; "Be strong for your neice and love her like never before". Chris, can you give us an update on how the platelet infusion went? My son, Gavin had to have probably no less than 10 of these and probably another 20 or more of whole blood infusions while on treatment. Is she currently neutropenic?

It went well. She is at home now.. Has to go back into the hospital on the 26th for another round of chemo.. This time she will be in the hospital for 3 days..
