Neighbor did not want this building anymore.I thought it might be a good place for hunters to stay with a little work. The wife, people who gave it to me and many more did not think I could move it. Ha Ha

I will have to cut the fence to get to my place, cut a bunch of trees, smooth out some washes. I am not going to break any speed limits out in the pasture. The dozer was the only thing I have that will pull it and do the road work necessary to get it there.

Don't you just love it when someone says you "can't" do something.

Tons of potential and only limited by your budget and imagination.
Congrat's on a great score. A roof over one's head, irregardless of where they are at, is always a good thing.

Those are really expensive. You hit the jackpot..

Re: New hunter cabin? - 09/26/12 12:53 AM
That looks a little too easy! You need something that requires 2-3 months work to get ready, ha ha ha! From the picture it looks like it has a sound roof as well.
I agree you hit the jackpot.

I'd leave it like it is. Just put A/C,heater and good to go. That way you could sleep all day:)

I see nothing wrong with that at all... I can defiantly say I’ve stayed in a lot worse than that over the years!!!

Re: New hunter cabin? - 09/26/12 10:08 PM
I was given the building because it is at a ranch that the parents passed away and was not longer used. I bought an old trailer that was originally used to haul dozers. Welded four 8 inch puring on the bed to get height over the tires. Now I would have to raise the building up at least 2ft. to get it on the trailer. How to do that? I had a brain storm in the middle of the night. I have a dozer, dig a hole deep enough for the trailer to be at the same level as the building. So I dug a ramp, got the trailer the same as the building, put a cable around it, greased the purling and pulled it on the trailer. I love it when a plan come together. Now all I have to do it cut trees and fence and figure out where I want to set it.

Pretty soon. No electricity, battery powered lights, toilet but no shower. 2 futons and one of the best views around.

Re: New hunter cabin? - 01/20/13 08:48 PM
Looks good Don. One thing about the hills is you will always have some sort of breeze on that ridge. Black plastic water hose run on the ground will make plenty of hot water for a shower.

That ought to work out just great, all you need. Never put anything past a dozer and a little country ingenuity. Nice work Don. What are the dimensions of that building?
Looking forward to the inside pics.
