Too cool. I have seen them once in the wild, up at the North End of Canyon Lake. I know they eat fish, but they sure are cool animals.

I've heard that there is an East Texas River Otter but have never even heard of anyone seeing one.

That's cool as chit.....

Very cool!! I have seen them 3 times in just over 30 years of hunting in Houston county. All three times they were in pairs. I researched a bit and they are actually legal to take but I just could not bring myself to shoot one. They would make an awesome mount.

He was telling me the scat he saw was full of crawfish shell parts, so it was probably eating them. They eat a bunch of freshwater clams and mussels too. They lie on their backs and use a rock to hammer them open. I wish I could see that just once here in Texas.

I hear they are pretty common on the Sabine and Neches and fewer on the Trinity south of Corsicana. I think they need a bunch of creeks feeding off the river to use like water roads to access land.

One was about 4 miles off the Colorado River and the other a pretty good ways off the Guadalupe River.

Have seen lots of river otters trapped and shot some and just watched others. One of the most playful critters in the wild.

Last ones I saw were on my place in Mississippi last year turkey hunting 4 were sround me for over an hour. Talk about something that can greatly reduce the fish population in a tank, catching bass for them is childs play.

Saw one a few years ago on Rowlett road at lake Ray Hubbard, and 20 or so years ago saw the frst that I saw in Texas at Lake Lavon.

I see them quite often on the San Jacinto river near Conroe, I've taken a couple of them for their fur which is one of the best out their.

they are fairly plentiful here, I like to watch them. They do eat fish, but it is mainly rough fish like buffalo that they eat so they don't do much harm.

They are really neat critters! we had one in our sub-division retention pods for a short while this winter that was sure fun to watch. Was very surprised to see one in Waxa ma Hatchie! flag

They are thick on the more remote parts of the trinity and navasota river. they get in the stock tanks all the time and are the last thing you want when your raising fish... nothin but a waterliving yote

I shot one once thinking it was a nutria. It was pretty cool and very smelly. I wish I would have kept it but I was just a teenager.

Had a GTG at the house one time and saw a group of 4-5 hop out of one tank and run and dive in the tank behind my house. We all just set there wondering WTH they were? Had never seen one before that, and havent seen them since

i saw 4-5 at Cooper lake a couple years ago. I am guessing that's what I saw.

They are long, and stand up on their back legs?

I was walking the bank and they ran from the trees to the water, and scared the carp outta me!
