Wow! Lot of haters around here. I like how we as outdoorsman are all suppose to get along and fight against antis until it's something you dont like then it's different. It was legal it was not your money and he's a happy a man so what do you care? Atleast antis have a belief and pick a side to be on and don't waiver in a grey area that allows them to do one thing and say another. Very nice bull by the way.

No it isnt, hunting has a bad name because it is the killing of animals and most people that dont hunt are smart enough to realize that we do not have to hunt to survive. What they dont understand is traditions and family time and getting to know new people and getting out of the everyday grind that most all of them have never seen. They dont care if it makes you feel better to sit in a stand and shoot a "wild" deer from under a feeder, eventhough it has been trained to come to the feeder everyday at 5:00, or if you kill an elk in a high fence ranch. Its all legal and there is a place for all of it. These people need to be educated, taught why we do what we do. Hell when you critizize a legal and enjoyable way of taking animal your fighting their battle for them. It may not be the way you do it but that doesnt make it wrong. Congratulate the man on something he enjoys and was nice enough to share with people that are intrested in the same things he is and use some of your energy spent on, Im better than you hatred, to educate some one who is on the outside looking in and let them in on a great sport that they have been missing their whole lives.

Well,I certainly understand everyone has a right to their opinion. But when photos are posted and two threads started on a huge elk IMO the readers are entitiled to know the cirumstances of the "kill"-which were not fully disclosed until asked about. If an animal is taken under high-fence then IMO if you post the pics then you should expect that some will not ,shall we say, think so highly of it.Having the fence in the background and posting the discussion about agonizing about whether he wanted to spend the extra $$$ on the "upgrade" from his original 420" package(other thread) doesn't help.

We can all disagree about how we feel about high-fenced kills but I don't believe anyone would compare it to a wild animal taken by fair chase means.

Well, I tried to disclose all I knew about the kill (figured everyone knew that SCI=HF) and circumstances of the kill, and in no way have I tried to compare this to a free-range bull. The fence in the background was a deliberate act from what I hear so as not to confuse people and/or discredit a true free range bull.

Honestly, I knew this would ruffle a few feathers and I openly welcome the criticism. I'm somewhat of a critic when it comes to high fences myself. But seeing Mr. Saulsbury with a real smile on his face for once is truly a sight for sore eyes.

and djones.... that's just classic stuff rite there. I'm terrible at photoshop. Do you think you could do that with the hunter and send it to me im a PM or somethin? I think he would get a kick outa it.

I appreciate everyone's response.

If the thf only knew how many different times you had photographed those four hogs you would lose a bunch of your groupies. How many nights in a row can you use the same hog before it gets to ripe. Long live Brother Fred the man who taught you all you know.

You have more groupies than i thought. Funniest part of that pic is that the next night you and Murph reused that hog in a different picture.

Mark3, Darden is being a pretty good sport about us hijacking his thread, but if he gives me the nod, I'm coming over and giving you a judi chop in the throat. Besides, shouldn't you be repossessing someone's car or evicting a family from their home? Isn't there a ghey banker's forum you can troll?

Re: 501 3/8 net typical (SCI) Alberta - Dick Saulsbury - 09/09/11 02:05 PM

I personally dont agree with high fence hunting but to each his own. If he has the money and the means to do it, its not for me to judge. That is one heck of a trophy. Like others have stated I wouldnt even be able to get it in my house!

I don't care if it is fenced or not.....just curious cuz i don't know that much about elk and that looks like a "genetically modified" bull. Probably isn't but who cares? Nice bull congrats to the hunter....
