sweet, thats the same setup i have in mind pretty much, omega rail, eotech red and magnifier... i heard some ppl are having problem with the magnifier flip to the right side, where when enjecting the empty casing, it might hit it, you have any problem with that?

those .308 ar, how is the accuracy on it? it fires the 7.62x51mm and not the 7.62x39mm right?

one thing i notice is, on a lot of other forum, i see people got nice ars and then they keep them in crappy looking carry bags, some pic with hard carses would be nice...

7.62 x 39 is the round the AK is generally chambered in.

7.62x51mm is fine in a .308 chambered rifle, however, .308 may not be fine in a 7.62x51mm rifle.

My AR10 is very accurate and I've used it to take both hogs and deer as well as varmints.

In a way they r both .308, 57 is 308 win and 39 is mostly found in ak/sks isn't it?

7.62x39 is actuall .311 not .308

I need some education on this subject. What is the advantage to the AR compared to a Ruger .223 Ranch Rifle?

I get the impression it is only the "cool" factor but need some advice. What will one do that the other will not?

I am looking at both.

#1 ARs are much more accurate. I had a Mini 14 ranch rifle at one time.
#2 Parts. There are tons of parts for these guns. For less than $100, you can have enough extra parts to keep your AR running for probably as long as you live.
#3 They are modular. Meaning, push 2 pins and take off your .223 upper and replace it with a 6.8 SPC, or 6.5 Grendel, or .450 Bushmaster, .458 Socom, .50 Beowulf etc.

Here is a picture of one of my cases. The good thing about this case, it's water proof, it floats, it can be strapped down to ATV/UTV and all my goodies are safe inside. It also has wheels on the bottom and has retractable extension handle. rolls into the shooting range real nice.

Here is my HK MR 308 with Eotech EXPS3-0

I have the Mako front grip with light and integrated bipod and I like it, it seems very well made and the bipod is fairly sturdy, not quite as sturdy as a dedicated bipod but good enough to get the job done. My only complaint is that it's about and inch longer then my previous forgrip which means it now doesn't fit in my case so I have to remove it to store it. I would not have bought it seeing how they cost $200, I paid $40 for it and can't complain. I'll post pics of it tomorrow

Does anybody have colors other then black/tan/green on their AR's? Mine is currently black/green and was thinking about changing the green to a dark red, just something different from everybody's. My Honda 400ex is all flat black and flat red and I like it, though it would look neat on an AR. I know there are a lot of different paints available now for doing such things but how do they hold up on plastic parts?

i am getting the omega rail in tan, then i want to get some laddder cover or whatever they are called in red, i wonder what kind of paint i should use...

i know i want those magpul afg and bipod to switch out at the range, as for grip, not too sure about it yet, but i might end up just getting all

You can get them off ebay used for half the price of new. Buy used, it's the same warranty - FOREVER, if it breaks, anything breaks, cracks, anything, they fix it. Save the money and buy used. I picked this one up from ebay and paid less than half price for it.

On mine, at 1.5x I can see my front sight in the botton 1/3 of the scope.

4x no problems and I use the PEPR by Burris.

theres one thing i been wondering, would a 30rd clip be too long to use with a bipod or sandbags over at the range? hitting the table and such... i've seen a lot people use the 20rd at the range... could that be a reason?

I use 30 rounders all the time at the range while shooting from the tables. It shouldn't be an issue with the correct bipod, sand bag and chair height.

That rail is to adjust the cheekpiece and yes, the sling mount can be removed.

What's your thoughts on this stock? Would you buy it again? I'm looking for a new stick for my Colt with the carry handle, it has a scope mounted on it and is a little high for me, that stock looks like it would get the job done for me.

that stock does look nice, its going on my to-get list for next year, my ar is going to be so naked for now, only got optics now, then when jan comes, going to get the rifle it self with the omega rail and maybe a afg, then its gota wait til at less summer before i slowly add stuff to it... i figure i would add stuff or change out stuff every 3 months or so... why can't my momey tree grow!?!?

It's okay. The cheek-piece isn't as rigid as I'd like it to be, it has a little slop to it but I guess it gets the job done. I probably would not buy it again. I like the Magpul CTR I have on that High Standard AR15 pictured above but it doesn't have an adjustable cheek-piece.

You could always add a LaRue RISR to the CTR to get a better cheek weld if needed. Not adjustable but better than nothing if you need it. I found it to not be neccesarry on mine.

to people with muti-ar/rifles, how long did it took y'all to get all those?

I used to have 3 AR's and when I bought them, it was all at once...(within a month's time.) It was a disease. Fortunately I bought them back when prices were very decent and got out of them about the time prices were insanely high, funding some much nicer projects.

Got my first in 1998 and my most recent one just a few weeks ago. I like building them and tinkering with them. One of my hobbies I guess.

I was lucky enough to get it right here off of the forum for a great price. You can get an entry level upper for 700-750 from gunbroker or similar sites. Cabelas has them on their online store for 750 I think. The upper can be used on standard 5.56 milspec lowers. You can even use standard AR mags.

Well... yes and no. It's their proprietary upper, but some individuals may have a license to chamber barrels for the 0.50 Beowulf round. I know it's hard to find these days... my brother waited four months for one and he wound up cancelling his order. Like I said earlier, I got lucky enough to find it on the forum for sale. Another good option would be the Bushmaster 0.450, it is more readily available. Hope that helps...

I love there lowers too. Thats what our M16 post sample was made on.

Of all the lower brands we have sent to be engraved, we have never had a doublestar yet thats been out of spec. We have had at least one of most other brands that has been (magwell too tight etc).


His upper is all Spikes and so is his buffer.

You might want to try lowering that scope and moving it further forward. You might find your cheek weld and eye allignment may suit you much better !!

I love it - its specifically for night hunting so it's got the red LED. I think it safely shoots light out to about 150 yards where you can easily make out targets with a scope. I haven't tried any non-magnified optics in conjunction with the light yet, but with the Bushnell setup, I couldn't be happier.

Yeah thats pretty much sumed it up. It does have a Spikes NiB FCG , that has a lot to do with why the trigger is so nice. Also a hand reamed match gas block fit to the gas port and YHM Phantom FH.

Turned out to be one the the most accurate uppers I have built !!

my 6.8 build almost done, waiting on slow a%# spikes! just need a bcg, flash hider, and a few other very small things. and its going to get a trip to brandon for a trigger job. its also getting a cheaper night vision scope for now.

Absolutely the best charging handle on the market. If you havent already, check out the bottom of this page to see what makes them different than a mil spec CH with Tach latch , http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-GUNFI...d%203%20556.htm The Tach latches are great but if you charge your weapon mainly from the left side there isnt a better CH on the market for you than the Gunfighter.

It really made a world of difference on the one I orderd for my AR10 with it's big a$$ night vision scope. Can't tell you how many times I tore a fingernail off using the stock DPMS charging handle.

Mahoru, another option is just installing a badger tac latch. We have them on all our guns, work great. Around 15 bucks.

morgan, i'll check that out, i am startin to hate the stock standard CH now.. i need something bigger to grab onto...

Like I stated above the Badger Tach latches are nice. The Badger was designed to have a larger suface area to grab onto when charging the handle with with your index and middle finger of your right hand (the traditional way) and doesnt change the position of the actual latch. The Gunfighter is positioned in a way to where the latch doesnt come back quite as far as on a stock CH with a tach latch and was designed specifically for one hand charging (with your left hand) without removing your hand from the pistol grip. Theres not a better CH on the market for left hand charging than the Gunfighter...

I have a gunfighter on my DDM4 and love it.

No optics yet, but I got my Daniel Defense M4 back from Chuck and the Cerakote looks great..

The top one is a Bushmaster O.R.C with a Magpul MOE forearm, ERGO Suregrip and an RRA Match 2 Stage trigger at 2.5lbs. It's topped with a Leupold Mark AR 3x9 with a Duplex ret.




The bottom one is a New Frontier Armory 6x45 upper with a YHM rifle length Free float tube. The barrel is a stainless Black Hole Weaponry 3 groove polyagonal match standard contour tube. The lower is a Plum Crazy lower with a Magpul MIAD grip and the stock trigger in it was so nice I left it alone. It's topped with a Mueller 2x7 Multi-shot with illuminated dot in a Burris P.E.P.R mount.

man, i can't wait for my pelican 7500 to arrive any day now... i hope my foam-cutting-fu is strong...

Get some chalk, a razor blade or good fillet knife and finish it with an electric carving knife.

i am going to use sharpe, my sushi knife and some other knife and then a foam cutting hot blade to give it a nice finish corners, at less thats my plan for now, i was going to build those hot wire stuff, but i do not see my self cutting foam that often... plus i don't want to burn down my home with bad wiring... micheal hobby or whatever it is, is giving out 40percent off coupon and i got 2 of those, going to get the foam cutter from them...

The Vltor CASV-M only weighs an ounce or two more than any other mid-length tactical handguard, and they have modular rails.

i never pay much atten. to their rifle range, mostly use their clay range and the pistol... the only 2 times i used their rifle range, i was placed on the last 2, the ones next to the pistol range...

I don't understand how I "Fail agian." The full length top rail provides extra strength and rigidity. IMO it's not any uglier than any other quad rail handguard.

It's bigger than most handguards if you put the rails on it, but it's nice because it can act like a quad rail or a smooth handguard.

Just a quick prop for Primary Arms. Their service is outstanding. I received my order in 3 business days with standard shipping...which tells me once they get the payment confirmation, they process it immediately. The first light I received was defective and I called them to discuss. To be honest, I was expecting a week or so turnaround and the USUAL cya attitude. Not the case....they OVERNIGHTED on their dime a new one...with a return shipping package for the old one. For my trouble they threw in some extra batteries as well. I was very impressed with their professionalism and their proactive approach.

I had a problem with another vendor during deer season with a product. I was told I had to package the defective products ON MY DIME...send them back...they would investigate...then contact me with their findings. I raised holy hell and finally made it to the decision maker and got that changed, but it was an ordeal. NOT THE CASE WITH PRIMARY ARMS.

It's nice to see a company that places customer service above the almighty dollar and they have mad a long time customer out of me.

Very nice. I assume you're going to run subsonics out of it...220gr?

Right now I am running 208gr Hornady A-Max for both the short barrel 300 BLK and a 16" 300 Fireball barrel. Both use the same ammo with only a minor powder adjustment. Part of it is that they are much cheaper than Sierra's 240gr MK's and they still pack a bunch at 200 yards because of a very good BC (over .600). Have not had a chance to take down a hog yet but since most bullets won't expand at subsonic speeds anyway, I think they will do as good a job as f.e. 220gr Speer HotCor's which is more of a hunting bullet.

I might switch to supersonic loads for the Fireball I don't decide to sell that rifle. With supersonics loads it's going to offer better ballistics than 6.8SPC so pretty good all around hunting rifle for Texas size game.

I can't make up my mind on 8" or 10" because I'm going to mainly use it 150yds and closer and mainly sub-sonic, getting in and out of vehicles is my bigger concern with the can on it so I'm thinking smaller is better at the moment.

What kind of groups are you seeing out of the 10" ?

The big favor in Arron's favor is his barrels are half the price of Neveske.

No groups yet to report. I think I have at least one load developed for consistent subsonic performance, 10.5gr of Hodgdon H4198 over 208gr A-Max. I'll have to next see that gives me consistent accuracy. I am still shooting it with a pistol lower so that is going to limit my accuracy, unless it is legal to put it into a vise and shoot from there. I might just have to wait for a SBR stamp to be on the safe side before doing any final load development.

Alright. Here is mine. It's no fancy tact-cool rifle, but I love it. It's a 1976 Colt. It was my dad's gun, until recently, when he decided to hand it down to me. This gun has been in my family for over 25 years now, and was fired for the first time in 20 years last month. I do not plan on modifying it in any way. I'll just have to buy another one to play with.

Here's mine...RRA LAR-15 Coyote. I didn't really need to do too much to it because it was basically set up the way I wanted. I just added Warne quick release rings, Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x50 and a Sniper Hog Light Destroyer.

Ok here is my frankestein ar-15. CMMG upper, RRA bolt & two stage trigger, a.r.m.s. flip up rear sight, Mid West Indi. flip up front sight & floating rail handguard. S&W M&P lower, CAA folding stock, Eotech sight and streamlight tlr-1 light!! Don't remember who made the vertical grip, the extended charging handle or the gas block!! To much stuff to try to remember off the top of my head. I'm getting anywhere from 1 3/4" to 3/4" groups at hundred yards using the pmc x-tac 55 grain fmj. I also have a ssar stock to play with, when I feel like it!!

This is my colt m4 .22. My brother gave me the surfire, it was the one that was on his gun in iraq. I also have a bushmaster varmint but this one is a lot more fun and a lot cheaper to shoot.

Yall should start a thread on the .300 blackout. I just got one (posted above) I would like to see any results yall are doing. I'll be doing my own also, but mainly after i get my stamp for the YHM can.

New Noveske stripped lower and Centurion Arms rail. Building the lower was cake, installing the rail was a pain, but its done.

Only need to add a sling (vtac 2 point) and a light.

I'm still waiting on my Eff-ing AAC 7.62SD-N6 to get its [censored] to the shop and when that happens I will start the Form-4 for it, and a Form1 for my Spikes lower that is likewise still not here. I think for the interum I will go with the Delta Company Arms 10" as I don't want to pay double plus some for the Noveske 8" barrel.


BTW that is a super nice looking Rifle, I saw it for sale in Classifieds you got a great deal. If you have not done alot of research into 7.62x35MM/.300AACBLK you might want to check out Silencer Talk as there is a wealth of knowledge there for it since it is ran by the Mastermind Behind it.

208gr A-Max, 10.5gr of H4198. Not the cleanest kill, both shots went through without expanding. First shot through lungs taking out a piece of her ribs, immobilized her enough to make another shot through the hip. It's on pistol lower so I didn't want to try a neck shot at 100 yards. SBR papers have been sent, until then I will most likely shoot my long barrel Whisper.

is that a sub-sonic load? I got a couple hundred rounds of the factory rem ammo the 220 grain sub-sonic loads, i was wondering if that would be enough the put one down

If you want a silenced .308, AR platform isn't your best option. The reason is that for subsonic .30 bullets you have a better choice (300BLK) and if you plan to shoot supersonic rounds with it, it really isn't all that quiet...

If you plan to shoot .308 supersonic with a suppressor, get a bolt gun. If you plan to shoot subsonic .30 bullets, get a 300 Blackout. Just my $0.02.

This is one of my favorite to shoot...I have others that are more tricked out but this one is just FUN!

Mine is the SOG Armory 5.56 in the middle with the eotech. It has a BCM gunfighter ch (not shown) pictured is the sog ch with an oversized tac latch, SOG M-16 BCG, vortex flash suppressor, magpul trigger guard, magpul moe stock, magpul miad grip, engraved dust cover, eotech sight and matech backup elevation site, 1 in 7 twist 16" chrome lined m4 profile cold hammer forged barrel and a single point sling attachment with sling. I crayon filled the safety engravings.

Missing a few things but please let me know what you think ... I'm pretty happy about this one
