Moutrie Cameras or Customers Service

Moutrie Cameras or Customers Service - 12/22/09 01:31 PM

Myself and a buddy have been trying to get someone at Moutrie for over 3 months now. We have left messages and emails with no response. I have never seen a company avoid its customers like they have. I waited on the phone the other day for over 30 min when it said a customer service person would be on line with in 3 min. I just need a lED board for one of there cameras. I like there products but if you cannot pick up the phone or answer a email then I will find someone else to give my money too ! Anyone else have these troubles ?

Yes, don't be surprised once you finally get a live person, they tell you they do not have that item in stock or the camera is obsolete...we recommend you upgrade and purchase a new one. That's the response I got on a camera that is less than 2 years old.

I kinda figured that, but If I get a hold of a live person I may not can hold back the frustration ! Our camera is less than two years old. It is a DGW-100. Thanks

Right there with ya. Sent 3 cameras in 3 months ago because the screen went out. 3 weeks later a nice lady left me a message saying that two of them were ready, but the 3rd could not be repaired because of water damage. She left a number for me to call her back.

Have left 5 messages since and nobody returns my calls. Waited on the phone queue only to be dumped from the system.

All I want for Christmas is my two piece of crap cameras.... that according to what I read on here will soon go out again.

wow, guess they have gotten worse. I called, they answered, told them the problem and she gave me an address. I sent it in, got a brand new camera back in about 10 days.

Sounds like you were LUCKY ! I hit a ext number that put me over to the IP director of sales or something like that and I thought wow I may have reach someone who may can do something. Left a message there also and same old stuff Nothing ! Just do not understand the reason why they will not take care of business. They cannot be that busy if so hire some people that have been layed off.

I have two "replacement" cameras that I need to send back. I am almost at the point of turning them in to the BBB and Alabama Attorny General's office.

I will be asking for my money back for the two cameras this time or an upgrade to something other then the I-40. They have to know they have an inferior product that does not work and they are pawning them off on us.

I guess they have quit making the I-40 and now have an I-45.

I will also be sending the CEO of EBSCO

http://www.ebscoind.com/groups-op-pob_mf.asp

a letter also. They are ripping us off and they have got to know it.

I have 4 I-40's, all have been sent in atleast once for display replacement, it usually take 30 days, have never received a "new" camera, just the ones I sent in. They know they have real issues with the displays, you would think that would be priority to upgrade display, would save tremendous about of time & money on their part and do wonders for company reputation. bang texas

Hummm sounds like they are real hit or miss when it comes to customer service. I've had good luck with them in the past but have heard (on here) of a lot of people that haven't had any luck.

Here's a hint to get into just about ANY company to talk to a human being. IF, you have the gift of gab. Call and ask for or pick the phone prompt for "accounts recievable", people ALWAYS want to talk to someone who owes them money and people in this department usually aren't all that busy. Make a little small talk, "how's the weather" kind of stuff, keep chit chatting as long as you can think of something to say, then start to tell them you have a problem with your camera, and they will say something like "Oh you need the service dept. just a moment".

Good questions to ask while you're chatting are things like...
"who's runnin that place now?"
"who's runnin the service dept?"
Write down any names you get that way if you have to call back you can say something like "I need to talk to Steve in service right quick please."
If they ask you who's calling and you don't mind lieing a little say "Oh, this is his cousin Mike"

Wow!!! With all the horror stories I've heard about Moultrie cameras, why do yall continue to buy them??? Is it because they are so cheap?? It seems to me, after one going out, trying to get it replaced, time and money getting it sent back in, loss time of not taking pics where you hunt and not knowing what you have runnin around, yall would've invested in another camera that works!!!
I did!!!
And my Moultrie isn't even broke. Just too slow to trigger.

It would be nice if we could convince most of these chain stores (Bass Pro, Academy, Gander) to quit selling the moultrie game cam product because it is such junk! Maybe this would be there wake up call! Granted they still could sell them over the net, but if all the major stores quit selling there product it would hurt them.

Re: Moutrie Cameras or Customers Service - 12/23/09 12:45 PM

Hate to read all these horror stories about the moultrie. There is no excuse for poor customer service. I mainly hate to hear it because I now own 10 moultrie cameras. Two yrs ago I bought 8 out of the bargain bin at cabelas for about 50 bucks a piece. Some of these cameras were used because when I got em home they had a few deer pics. stored in them. I have had these cameras out now for 2 yrs. never even bring em home. Leave em out yr. round. I have not had a problem with any of them. Get any where from 4-6 wks. out of the batteries depending on # pics., weather, etc. Mine are the d 40 flash cameras. Sounds like most people are having problems w/ the IR. I bought 2 more d 40's this yr. will be interested to see how they perform. Sounds like I got lucky.

Re: Moutrie Cameras or Customers Service - 12/23/09 01:40 PM

I'm a bit surprised by some of these posts; I've had nothing but good service from Moultrie. I had three I40 cameras that worked very well until the displays flaked out--called Moultrie and they sent me three brand new cameras after I returned the defective ones! I was really impressed by them until the replacement cameras also flaked out within 6 months. I can't for the life of me understand why they continue to ship a product with such an obvious and widespread defect. I'm done with Moultrie. I've gone with the Bushnell Trophy Cam and like them much better. 2-year warranty, too.

Re: Moutrie Cameras or Customers Service - 12/23/09 02:22 PM

Sent an email to the customer service guy in the post above and got a response the same day. That was refreshing. He copied me on the email he sent to the service lady who has not been returning my calls, telling her to get this taken care of. We shall see. It is a shame because I really like these cameras other than the screen issue, the poor mounting system, and the hard to access card slot.... Wait a minute, did I just say I love these cameras?

I emailed Ken Bearden from this post, and got a very quick response. Man he answered my email within a 1/2 hr. At least someone there cares !He did tell me the camera I have is old but we purchased it 2 years ago from Wal-Mart. I guess they have a bunch of left overs.

One thing for sure. If you have a Moultree, you WILL need to use the service department at some point... They'd better have good customer service people that are willing to work long hours. popcorn

I bought a Moultrie I-60 and haven't had any issues yet. My Remington Ghosts were less than 2 weeks old and have lost the ability to take night pic's. That's all of the pic's I've ever got from my lease. Hope "something" comes out during daylight this weekend.
