ODESSA, TX (KWES) -
Two mountain lion sightings at Odessa's Comanche Trail Park have Odessa police warning residents.
Odessa Animal Control added that they found tracks and paw prints that possibly belong to a mountain lion.
We're told that there are several acres of undeveloped land that could possibly harbor mountain lions as a food source.
As a result, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be heading to Comanche Trail Park in an attempt to locate the mountain lion.
Police are reminding citizens to keep their pets secured and be mindful when they allow their children to roam and play.
If you come into contact with a mountain lion, you're encouraged to call Odessa Animal Control at (432) 333-3641.
Here are some safety tips from authorities regarding mountain lions:
•Don't approach a mountain lion. Most mountain lions will try to avoid confrontation.
•Do not run from a mountain lion. Running may stimulate a mountain lion's instinct to chase.
•Do not crouch down or bend over.
•Do all you can to appear larger.
•Fight back if attacked.
