Tips on calling in a big kitty

Tips on calling in a big kitty - 12/12/13 02:01 PM

We have had several sightings of a cougar lately, the last was yesterday. I have called in coyotes and bobcats, but never a lion. Anyone have any advice on the best practice to try and get a shot on this beautiful nuissance?

Big cats will have a 20 mile home range. Have called up a few, but being where they are at the right time is tough. They are VERY patient and wary so you usually have to call for a LOOOOONG time to get them to show.

Try using a "visual" attractant combined with the call, has worked for me on bobcats many times. I have used anything from a chicken wing, flagging tape, to a pie pan hanging in the wind.

Just a thought, never called in a big cat, that I know off.

In my experience, Cougars like muscles and money. If you have those two things and perhaps a nice car, Cougars are the easiest thing in the world to bag.

Duck or dove wings work really well with some fishing line tied up in a tree.
