Snoring from others keeps me up all night at hunting camp

Anyone else have problems with other people snoring

Get a box fan for some white noise to drown out the snoring folks.

This is always the best solution, and if you have daughters with you, it's a no-brainer.

Kiss each one of them on the cheek good night when you go to bed...that should keep them awake..

Ear plugs will not work for a light sleeper.
Box fans won't work without AC electricity.

Depending on the snoring, ear plugs and a box fan might be necessary...and then you lose all sense of situational awareness and are trusting to be fully isolated in the night...also not an ideal situation as your hearing is often the only source of situational awareness you have in the night.

Your own RV or moving further away from the group are your best options for sleeping. I am a light sleeper as well.

I have this problem. I hunt with a group of 3 others beside myself. They all snore. I am sure that I do too but I am a light sleeper so I am always getting woke up. I use the ear plugs and fans and it helps to some extent. Usually after about 2 nights of being kept up, I will sleep better on the 3rd night. It's horrible.

Earplugs for me too. Poor fellers that hunt with ME though, my condolences.

Been there, sucks. I have to get drunk and asleep first. Won't even share a motel room with my hunting buddy, cost more but at least I get to sleep.

I don't hear very well and snore like crazy. Its the best of both worlds. ...I am your worst nightmare..

I've used ear plugs in the fire station. The tones are plenty loud that I still heard them.

You're not drinking enough beer and whiskey before bed, either.

Wow! I feel your pain! I was on a lease with a guy and he shook the walls with his snoring! He made jokes about it. His wife made him use a machine at home and he tells everyone at the lease that it works for him but he thinks its funny keeping everyone at the lease up all night while he gets a good nights sleep. He simply didn't care. As far as I'm concerned people like this are real jerks! Couldn't stand the guy. The only thing I could do was make sure I was in bed and asleep before him. If I woke up in the middle of the night it was over with. I took a lot of naps during the day.

My dad both snores and talks in in his sleep very loudly, deer camp can get frustrating.

My dad used to snore his azz off. Sometimes I wouldn't even get any sleep at all.
Now I wish my dad was still alive so I could him snore again.

I had a guy bring a whistle with him and once they started snoring he went to blowin that whistle as loud as he could. It was hilarious!

I take out the hearing aids and let the ringing in my ears lull me to sleep. Probably a Harley could drive through my bedroom and I wouldn't wake up. It can be good and bad!

Punch em in the head while they're snoring. Then jump back in your bunk.
I've actually been a witness to this and it's pretty damn entertaining.

I have been on several trips recently and was forced to bunk with snorers (i'm one too). Once I wake up I cant get back to sleep, and more beer makes it worse. I fired up the iPod, crammed the buds in my ears......problem resolved. There are lots of good podcasts about hunting, shooting etc, if you dont want to listen to music.

Used to get right in their face, flip on a flashlight and scream "TRAIN!!!"

One guy was real bad and they gave him a big shot of whipped cream on the inhale....... Wasn't a pretty picture and a couple pulled guard duty the next few nights.....

Can't stand it. It got so bad I would sleep in my truck and finally broke down and bought my own RV.

Can't imagine being on the other side of this. I have sleep apnea and have used a cpap for almost 10 yrs. my wife put up with it for 5 yrs of me not having it and I don't know how she did it. She occasionally snores and I will smack the crap out of her when she does. She is a better person than I. Good luck!

Didn't know what sleep apnea was back then so no air pumps for snorers... It was the guy on fire watch's responsibility to keep snoring to a minimum... Sometimes they'd get carried away some....

used to keep me awake too, but only the first night. By the second day I was tired enough it didn't matter.

I have to go with the your not drinking enough and they are crowd.

Get you a good camp bed like this and sleep out under the stars. Beats the heck out of sleeping inside a tin can with a bunch of stinky [censored] snoring fellas.

Well done on using the Search feature! All part of the hunting experience. You should be headed to the blind about now. You can get some quality shut eye there.

(I keep foam ear plugs everywhere. And, I haul the darn CPAP everywhere I go.)

I am usually on the other end of the snoring, I will keep others awake.
When work requires me to stay over night I will get a separate room so the other guy can get some sleep.

Hunting camp sounds like all fun and games until you have to deal with the snoring. Only remedy causes you to wake up with a headache so that's no fun either.

Just get your own trailer and quit bitchin….

just me- i'd have to say it's better than listening to bunch of yo-yo's hootin'
and hollerin' till 3 or 4 am. then, you get to wake them up while you're
banging pots and pans around fixing coffee and breakfast. you really don't
have to be making anything at all, you just have a good excuse for making
some loud noise to disturb the disturbers. eat a few bean burritos the night
before and you'll have some nice perfume to leave with the noisemakers
as you leave to go hunt while they're still lazing in bed.

If snoring keeps you awake your not tired enough.

If you don't have children then try that you will be draggin arse every day and be able to fall asleep at the drop of a had weather its nice and quiet or your sitting next to a train crossing with blaring horns flashing lights and chimes going off.

So me and my hunting partner brought our buddy, Big Jim, to the lease once. Big Jim is about 6'3" and 300 lbs. He's a heck of good guy and lots of fun to have around. But Big Jim hits the whiskey early and often through the day. This particular morning he started with a breakfast of Evan Williams and Coke. He maintained a solid drinking regimen throughout the entire day and into the night, nearly finishing a gallon of whiskey. He was out long before we were, so by the time we hit the rack Big Jim was in some deep drunken sleep.
We settled into our bunks, lights out and began drifting to sleep ourselves when it began. Softly at first and then progressively louder. Big Jim was calling to wife, Rosie. He call out, "Rosie". Then louder and more desperately, "Rossssie". Finally in a great booming voice and at very high volume, "ROOOOSSSSSSSSIIIIIIIEEEEEEE". It was almost to the point of a gutteral growl coming from his big barrel chest.
But that wasn't all. Then he began hitting the wall. Once, twice and then repeatedly and ever harder. The whole cabin shook. This cabin was an adobe walled cowboy bunkhouse and solid, but Big Jim was rattling it good. And all the while yelling "ROOOOOSSSSSIIIIIIIEEEEEEE". Then he began growling like a bear. A big, mean bear, bent on killing. This kept up for a solid 15 minutes. We tried to rouse him but there was nothing that was going bring him out of that drunken nightmare.
Eventually he quieted down and actually slept quietly through the night. But holy heck, we literally discussed tying him to a 4-wheeler and dragging out of the cabin and onto the porch. No way we could have moved him on our own.

Good stuff.

Bunked with a big Cajun buddy offshore (4 men to a very small room). Great guy, super laid back, but man did he SNORE. All 3 of those men snored their azzes off, after the first night or two it doesn't bother me and I sleep like a baby. What freaks me out is sleep talking LMAO. I woke up in the middle of the night to "BURGER KING". "BURGER KING....MAN I DON"T WANT NO BURGER KING". "BABY, COOK ME SUMPIN I DON"T WANT NO DAMN BURGER KING!!!!" He was YELLING! I laid in bed and laughed my azz off, other guys woke up throwing stuff at him LOL.

You should have gone over and whispered into his ear....."it's McDonalds, not Burger King".......or ask him "do you want a Whataburger instead"......

Big man rarely ever spoke, very quiet and obviously sober offshore so when he started yelling Burger King at 2am I couldn't help but wake up & laugh. Other guys were cussing him pretty bad lol...Land Pirate's story had me laughing pretty hard..

Again, recommend your hunting friends get checked for sleep apnea. It’s serious stuff.

I got mine fixed this year and that was the first thing the guys said. "holy cow you were quiet last night we didn't hear you at all"........just sayin

yeah it is easy and fun to joke about heavy snoring - problem is it can be life or death for many folks -

When you sit down to review the results with your doctor it's interesting and enlightening. You find out you quit breathing 60 times last night, and your heart rate, blood pressure and blood oxygen levels went into the danger red zone. And your body automatically woke you up from deep sleep to keep you from dying.

My pulmonologist seemed like a nice enough guy, but he didn't have his act together to actually schedule a visit, nor tell me to schedule one, to review the sleep study. It just showed up at my PCP and she mentioned it the next time I was in. I got so pissed I just asked for a copy of it and took it to my neurologist that I've been seeing for years for my migraines. This young man has it together and he prescribed the CPAP. 'Never heard from the pulmonologist ever again. Pitiful.

My dad's buddy would wake up yelling in the middle of the night, scared the crap out of me!

I have a bad snoring problem
did the sleep study and yeah, it was enlightening to say the least..
That was over a year ago and I blew it off..
Poor wife is miserable at times.. uses ear plugs and punches me at night..
I don't recall a thing...

My buddy at our lease, also a big Cajun dude was telling me last year I need to get a CPAP and that it changed his life..

This past weekend at the lease, my son who is 14 moans LOUDLY in his sleep, kept me up a bunch and I was very frustrated to say the least...
Got up that morning and thought to myself "my poor wife"
Time to get the damned machine.
Of course, I called the dr who gave me the prescription after my sleep test and we had changed insurance since then..

CPAP machines are life changers for sure, you will kick your self about after a month of having one of why it took you so long to get one.

I can certainly take a nap in the day at will!

I am just reluctant to do the whole mask thing..

I'm one of the snorers. If you hit me, pull a prank on me, or any other stupid thing then you will have to sleep with one eye open also. I know I snore and have a Dr appt next week to see about the CPAP. If someone pulled something on me I would get them back sooner or later. I try to warn people about my snoring and let them know. It is not something I enjoy and I doubt the others do either. I can remember in basic training we were 40 to a platoon bay. There was snoring even with 18-24 y/o. We were usually tired enough to go to sleep. Sleep Apnea is not a joke as stated before. White noise may help or as others have suggested get your own sleeping arrangement and solve it yourselve. As for me I own my sleeping quarters so any body that want to sleep has to put up with the owner. Where can I get cheese for this WHINE section?

I just throw a pillow or two at our guy that snores, usually shuts him up for a bit while I fall asleep.

CPAP saved and changed my life. Can't sleep without it and if for some reason I forget it then I feel like hell the next morning. This is a serious deal. And while I like deer camp, I have my own RV and place it away from the community cabin.
