NRCS money for game fencing??

NRCS money for game fencing?? - 11/28/12 03:55 PM

Someone told me the other day that you can get EQIP (Environmental Quality Incentives Program) money through the NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) to help subsidize the cost of building game fence if it is intended for game management.

Does anyone have any more detailed information about this? I can't seem to find anything...

Maybe he misunderstood?? confused2

They won't pay for fencing. Now if you want to plant native grasses and that sort of thing they would pay for it.

Well....not entirely true. I just visited a property in Junction (a little over 700 acres), and the owner got EQIP money to help pay for 3 cross fences (4 ft. goat wire). I don't really expect them to help pay for any type of game fencing, but apparently they will help with livestock fences.

(I believe the reason for subsidizing the cross fencing is to help encourage rotational grazing.)

Call your local office and get answers to all your questions.

They are very helpful.

they have funding for cross fencing but they do not fund border fences...i have never heard of high fencing for wildlife management just for livestock but it never hurts to ask

No need for the smart aleck remarks...

If you truly believe that, then you know very little about high fences.

Easy Eland Slayer. Cool down. I think he meant they dont provide funding for high fencing for management purposes, only fencing for livestock.

They will help with cross fencing so a person can defer pastures for grazing. That is if money is available.

hey Eland Slayer......maybe i should word it better... laugh i was not trying to be a smart mouth.....i think that the funding is for only cross fences....i really don't get into the arguments about HF and LF hunting...

My mistake....it just sounded to me like you were saying anything behind a high fence was livestock.

So is this tax money going to fences?

If I didn't have to pay for taxes to build other people's fences, maybe I could afford to build my own.

I Hope it is "on-the-table" in Washington too, along with any entomology studies, ObamaPhones, or does coffee make you loose weight "grants".

All ag type land improvements are deprecatable.. that includes every fence you see in the county.

I think reversing that would be a very bsd deal

I have to agree, I don't need to pay for someone else cross fence and somebody else doesn't need to pay for my kid to attend school. But from what I have also heard its only for interior fences and doesn't cover exterior property lines.

I desperately need to purchase about 1000 acres of my own to do whatever I please with. Can I get a grant for that?

grin Just kidding (sort of).

I don't like contributing to Obama-exterior fences OR Obama-interior fences any more than I like paying for OBAMA-Phones.

It was implemented long before Obama...also cedar and mesquite removal. Not every rancher and farmer is enrolled in tcu ranch management program.

Rotational grazing and pasture management benefit every consumer that eats and likes higher water quality. More efficient the pasture the more plentiful the production...more efficient and higher production equal lower costs to consumer

TCU Ranch management= thought by some as the end all, be all for the most advanced range and ranch management practices available.

Basically say the programs are there to help educate farmers and ranchers and off set some costs to better production, footprint and water quality for all

It pains me to say this but the "Obama" phone actually was started in the Bush years. He did it to please Palosi and some other liberal democrat. Obama just gets credit for it cause it took so long to catch on.
