Best game cam for under $200? - 11/07/12 07:35 PM

Howdy, one of my game cams recently went out and I need to buy a new one before this weekend, but I haven't ever really had good luck with any of them. Which game cam would you guys recommend for less than 200? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Bob

We have 4 or 5 Primos 35 for about $80 and love them. Have had problems with one after over a 1-1/2 years of use. So for $200 you can buy (2).

ScoutGuard makes some nice ones. They are small and run on AA batteries. I have one that is going on its 3rd year without issues.

I have numerous Priomos 35's that have been flawless for several years of year around use.

The one I'm replacing is a wild game innovations, so I don't think I want another one of those, but I have a primos now that seems to work well. I'm curious about the Bushnell though, has anyone else had good luck with them?

Which model? I haven't researched them much but it seems like they have a confusing number of models.

I bought two of these about a month ago at Academy for $99.99 each and so far I've been impressed. Quick trigger speed and excellent battery life. Picture quality is very good too.

Midway had some $350 job marked down to $99. I think it was a Moultrie. Screen, playback, not some bottom on the line cam.

I've had probs with them all under 200 bucks so just buy one where u can return it because they all go out. Already this year I've returned a primos 35 ultra and a moultrie M80 XT. Got the Moultrie Blackout now but I saved my receipt. Only cams I've had make it a full season are 2 cudde capture flash models.

SpyPoint IR7. Runs off of 6 AA batteries and lasts forever. Small camera that is easy to put up. Day time pictures are unbelievable. Night time pictures are a little grainy due to the IR.

Highly recommended.

I have a BF-7 and like it. Only video I ever captured was at night. It's choppy due to the frame rate, but decent for the price point. Only audio it's recorded was the wind, yet it seems to work well despite the little mic aperture at the bottom.

I own several brands and most don't make it past 2 years if you leave them out all year. The sun bears down on them and deteriorates them. That is why I just go with the cheapest that will take an external battery.

How long do the ones that take AA's last on battery? That would be a lot easier than C's or D's

Re: Best game cam for under $200? - 11/08/12 04:17 PM

Don't get the Moultrie M-80. Get the M-80XT. The "XT" version is the latest and it comes with the new motion-freeze technology which eliminates the blur on the infrared pics. The new version also has better battery life than the M-80. Big upgrades. I bought one back in June and I have extremely happy with the battery life (AAA batteries), quality of daytime photos, quality of nighttime photos, and ease of use. In fact, I just bought three more yesterday online for $120 each (shipping included). Here are several pics that I have gotten so far.

Primos 35 are the best for the money and a 3 year old could set them. You can find them for about $79 if you look. I had mine out for a month and they took about 4,000 pictures and only used about 30% of the battery life.

Re: Best game cam for under $200? - 11/08/12 10:02 PM

Primos are not only good cameras they customer service is excellent too. I had two PIR covers break for some unknown reason on cameras that were over two yrs old, well out of warranty and they replaced them. I just wanted new covers since the cameras worked fine but they gave me new cameras. That's hard to beat.

Trophy Cam by Bushnell the 8.0. I have 4 of them and the coons have chewed on them for 3 years and they still take 20k+ pictures each every year with one set of batteries. Very seldom do I get a whiteout or bad picture. I own Moultries, Wildgames, Primos as well, but they don't hold a candle to the Trophy Cams.

Love my Trophy Cams from Bushnell, too. I'm not a paid sponsor, either. They have a great track record for me. Good timing, good detection, good videos, good pictures. Battery life is awesome.

I have had all kinds spypoint, moultrie, etc they all have problems. I heard so many people talk about the truth cam 35 I bought 2 to try em out and so far no problems. I liked em so much I bought 2 more last week. The pics could be a little clearer but I'am not entering a photo contest I just want to see what is coming to feeders! The 2 I bought last week I got from Cabelas they were on sale $79.00.

Don't buy in to the wild game innovations cameras. They are cheap for a reason. Bushnell trophy line and moultrie cameras are quality without premium price

Re: Best game cam for under $200? - 11/21/12 09:27 AM

I used to love the Moultrie, when they were green and they opened from the bottom with one solid door.

The battery life of the Bushnell cannot be beat though.

Shame, the Moultrie sure did take great pics and lots of useful info on them.

I own 9 of the Bushnell trophy cams and I have at least 400k photos over the past 1-2 years and they work like a champ. The batteries last forever and the range is great.
