This weekend? Nowhere.

After 40-something years of leasing here in Texas, I've given up on all the hard work and petty drama. I've decided to focus on guided hunts.

So far this October: Moose in Wyoming and Whitetails in Saskatchewan. And still to come before Christmas: elk in California and mountain lions in northern New Mexico.

I was out there Saturday filling up the feeders and the bucks were moving...but due to the full moon I never saw any in the stand during the mornings rather driving around filling feeders. The full moon had them moving between 1-2pm

Good luck

I have been thinking of giving up hunting exclusively for whitetail in Texas. Im very close to spreading my wings and leaving Texas in the rearview mirror hunting wise.

It looks like you have it all figured out.

rtp, last year I spent nearly $4000 just on corn. That's about what the moose hunt cost. Opening morning, I'll be sitting here in my office at home with a cup of coffee watching 2 deer feeders behind the house. (No shooting, house deer are off limits.) Just enjoying life.....

So you gave up your spot Dave? How many years were you on that lease? Congrats on the fine trophies. You are going to need to add on to the new house for mounts if you don't watch it.

Hi Tye,
I was on the Clear Fork for 21 years, and prior to that I was in Mills Co for 12 years. Since I've moved back home to EasTex, the drive out west just seems farther, and the work just seems harder, and the weather hotter.....
I've always done my share of guided hunts. I'm just ramping it up a bit.
