Call JJ Fench at High Rack Outfitters. 817-296-7450. His forum name is bullzibrat. He has lion and bear dogs and takes them into NM for hunts. I'm sure he'd do something in Texas as well.

There is a guy in Medina, that still has some dogs. I always
kept an Airedale or two in the pack to keepm in a tree over
here...West Texas...not a problem they usually run about 20 or
more miles and tree on a ledge and start killing dogs.

Most lion dogs are valued at around $5K. If you have sheepherder
neighbors,,,Call Todd Mishnick in Ft. Stockton....get him to trap
them...don't get the mans' dogs killed....Don Dial Pipe Creek, TX

I've go lion hounds. I'll send you a PM and you can call me. Good lion hounds are very valuable and $5000 won't buy you much of one (just an average dog). Lions do also travel long distances but won't actually run 20mi. and they aren't that hard on dogs. Often times people like to make things sound a lot more difficult and dangerous than they really are. JMO

That's not enough acreage to run a Lion on. Your best bet is to bait and shoot or trap that sucker.

Airedale Breeder/Hunter in Muleshoe. Name is Expinoza @ 806-946-7525. Great guy and real good dogs for cat hunting.

Re: Mt. lion dogs - 11/16/11 12:35 PM

I go with bait and shoot at night if you have less than 10 sections of land to hunt on.

California animal control (and other states) uses night vision goggles, ir spotlight and laser sights to kill trouble lions.

PVS7b goggles-----$2300
IR spotlight---------50
Laser sight---------100 (night vision scope would be better)

You would not have a howling dog to feed and you would have a great setup to hunt other predators for years to come.

I know several serious lion hunters in the Fort Stockton to Alpine area if you are determined to get a dog.
