WYOMING WOLF BATTLE HEATS UP!

WYOMING WOLF BATTLE HEATS UP! - 02/09/11 02:35 PM

Got this from a buddy in Wyoming who is an outfitter. The battle over "delisting" the wolf frm the ESA continues and is starting to heat up:

Dear WY SFW Board Members and Wolf Warriors,

I received a call today from Ryan Benson asking me to activate Wyoming's Wolf Warrior's. Ryan informed me that our opposition has taken off their gloves and is pulling out all stops. They are starting to switch from attempting to spread half-truths, which we all know are also half-lies, and are now attempting to flood supporters of Congressional Action with overwelming calls of opposition. I am now asking each able bodied Wolf Warrior to engage in the process and take the time to call our Congressional Delegation and thank them for the continued dedication to removing recovered wolves from federal protection, returning management authority to state wildlife agencies. In addition, I would also ask each of you to contact Senator Hatch (R-UT), Representative Matheson (D-UT) and Representative Rehberg (R-MT) and thank them for their support as well. For those that may not already know, Utah has stood with Wyoming on at least three different occassions when Montana's US Senator's attempted to throw us under the bus. Their respective numbers are listed below. I took the time this afternoon to call all 5 Congressmen and it took me approximately 20 minutes. I urge your participation and ask that you answer this call to action. This battle is for ALL the marbles. Your participation is key in obtaining victory over a foe that has seldom been defeated. Their reaction to our efforts indicates that they are aware of them and are now mobilizing their forces to stop us. Once you take action, I would encourage each of you to press your friends and family to also take action. The victory is ours, but it will not happen if we do not engage the enemy.

Wyoming's Congressional Delegation
Representative Lummis 202-225-2311
Senator Enzi 202-224-3424
Senator Barrasso 202-224-6441

Utah Senator Hatch 202-224-5251
Utah Rep. Matheson 202-225-3011
Montana Rep. Rehberg 202-225-3211

Thanks for your continued support and efforts in behalf of Wyoming's Sportsmen and Sportswomen. Our hunting, fishing and trapping heritage needs you to answer this call.

Respectfully submitted,

Robert A. Wharff

My brother worked on a ranch up in Jackson Hole and said that the wolves are a huge problem. I thought he said that there were a limited amount of permits issued, I am sure to state officals, to help with the havic that they are creating.

Shoot, Shovel, and Shut up when it comes to wolfs.

A Federal Judge has made the state pull their wolf permits. This another thing that is causing a major problem - the states are not being allowed to regulate their wildlife like they have always been able to do.

One thing that really stinks...provisions in the ESA allow for a grievance to be filed, and if litigated that person is compensated for their cost of the litigation whether they win or lose! That compensation comes from the taxpayers!

This whole mess is gonna end up with somebody being killed by a wolf....then maybe something will get done....MAYBE!

Did yall read the field and stream issue about the guy who took the first wolf of the season in Idaho (I think it was Idaho)... That guy caught a lot of poo over that. I dont understand why its such an issue. What about bears, coyotes, lions, etc? Ill hunt pretty much anything that moves

People getting killed down on the border hasn't gotten anything done by the feds, I would suspect they'd be even less inclined to do anything about the wolves.

I thought that I heard on the news that there has been a confirmed human death from wolves now. Not completely sure. But like the other post said the feds don't care about the border so why would they help with the wolves.

There were reports of a wolf attack...but there have been no recent reports in the U.S. of a wolf killing a human. At least none that were "confirmed" as a wolf. There have been reported wolf kills in Canada!

Google wolf attacks humans and you'll find a couple of confirmed kills in Alaska,(US). Heck, there was a coyote kill of a young girl in Canada last year. It's just a matter of time. To think otherwise is foolhardy. Wolves kill and eat people just like cougars, coyotes, and bears. It historically ain't nothing new.

Guess I should've clarified the statement by saying WOLF KILLS IN THE LOWER 48!

I'll have to research and see if the ESA even included Alaska as far as the wolf population. They've never been endangered in that state!

Like i said earlier....wolves don't know about the imaginary lines that make up borders! It's only a matter of time before there is a wolf kill in the lower 48....probably in Montana!

Well it is finally hitting the fan....

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/02/17/montana-governor-authorizes-wolf-kills/?hpt=T2

Finally a governor with some cajones stepping up and doing what needed to be done months ago.

Hats off to Gov. Schweitzer! The states have always regulated wildgame, and there is no reason that the wolf should be excluded now that they have more than surpassed the limit set by the FWS.

If you are a ranch or livestock owner up there and wolfs are a problem, they should leave it up to THE ranch/livestock owner to take care of the problem. Im not talking the ranch owner have some buddies out to hunt or sell hunts, just take care of it & be done.

The key to the "compromise" will be if the federal judge approves the plan. He sided with the enviro's by placing the injunction and banning the proposed hunts by the Montana GFD. That L.A. TIMES news article put their slam against the Republicans making it seems as though they were the "bad guys" in this deal. Typical "unbiased" reporting again from the media!
