What would you buy?

If somebody gave you say $1200 and told you to go buy any deer rifle you want, what would it be? Mine would be an X-bolt Stainless Stalker in 270.

I'd like to find a used NULA in .284 Win......but that would likely cost more than $1.2k, if one could even find it.

Lacking that, then a Rem Model 7 in 7mm-08 from the Remington Custom Shop with the kevlar stock.

Actually... Let me reneg on that. Id buy a Matthews Z7. Its not a rifle, but we are dreaming here right?

$1,200 is not going to cut it.

I'd have to apply it towards some high end glass or like smasher above I'd blow it on a X7.

A good many years ago Hill Country Rifle had one that I have kicked myself a bunch of times for not buying. 7mm STW built on a 700 action with the BEST camo job I have seen on anything.

I think I would want one of those nice weatherby rifles in 257 weatherby or something along those lines...

With $1200 I'd buy my family plane tickets home to WV, convince my dad to give me his custom .308, and then fly back here.

I wasn't thinking about custom guns when I started the post, but now that y'all have brought it up I might put the $1200 towards a Christensen Carbon One Extreme in 270.

A few years ago I bought a Remington SPS .270 for around $450 to build a custom rifle from the action. Got it sighted in and it shot way to good to not keep the barrel. I mean really great for a factory rifle, stock, trigger and barrel. So in time I added a H/S Precision stock for another $300 and then dropped in a Jewell Trigger for $225 more. Still some day going to get a new barrel just have not decided which one to get since it still shoots great groups. Got a Ziess Conquest 6.5x20 on it that I paid just over $800 when I bought the rifle. If it were me, I would invest in a custom build to get what you want for you money.
