College Football Spring Portal.

College Football Spring Portal. - 04/13/24 12:26 AM

Opens Monday.

From what I understand, there is no inter conference moves. So no SEC to SEC.

They talk like it’s gonna be the Wild West. Teams now know what they need and players are starting to understand where they are on the depth chart.

Kids are starting announcements today.

One rumor floating out there is Oklahoma State Ollie Gordon to OU. Just a rumor.

Colorado in shambles. This is the strangest thing I’ve seen.
Colorado coaching staff should already have targets and things in motion.

Saw this coming from a mile away the first time Prime spoke with the 2022 CU team when he told them all they weren't good enough for him. Remember his Louis Vuitton luggage speech? Over 70 players transferred out of CU upon his arrival and it was almost all his guys that came into the program in 2023. But, he threw those guys under the bus and now so many them have left. They've lost 11 just this spring, which seems insane. He might be a black coach, but that doesn't mean black players want to play for him.

of those 70 most transferred down

alot of these kids are chasing NFL dreams, why they transferred in. After spring there comes the realization they ain't starting. Thats main problem with recruiting from the portal, most the time you get kids that are looking for the immediate ROI, not development.

I think they will be fine. All they need in the off season was an OL with age and experience. They lost 5 games by 7 or less last year, with an 18/19 year old OL.

Folks think the Portal is great for college sports.

How any would tolerate it in their company, employees coming and going each year for more money after spending money training them?

I recall almost all of their OL from 2023 transferring in, so there is no way that the OL was comprised of only 18-19 year olds. They were much older than that.

Re: College Football Spring Portal. - 04/18/24 02:28 PM

Colorado has certainly lost the most players this spring.

Coaches have their favorites, they all do.
To me, it seems Deion cares way more about promoting his sons and Travis Hunter, than winning and growing a program.

Deion will be gone this time next year. He will either go to Florida or Miami.

Here is the CU OL 2-deep at OL from 2023. Only one of those guys was a true Freshman and only one was a true Sophomore. It was almost all transfers with 4 or 5 years of experience. They won 4 games last year and all were against terrible teams. This will be a telling year for Prime, but I think it’s evident that he is all talk with little substance.

Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan- 4th year Junior
Jack Wilty- 4th year Sophomore
Isaiah Jatta- 4th year Junior
Jack Bailey- 5th year Grad Student
Van Wells- Sophomore
Hank Zilinskas- Freshman
Landon Bebee- 5th year Grad Student
Jack Wilty- 4th year Sophomore
Savion Washington- 4th year Grad Student
Kareem Harden- Junior

Im only familiar with two Alabama players who went to Colorado last year. They both are now in the portal.

One was a safety, realized Deions 24 year old son was returning and left.

I thought I read they were all pups….. and I was wrong. although 5 year transfer might as well be a pup. Thats trying like hell to give it one last go.

Still biggest problem last year was OL. This year I think they do well, next year in 25, will be very interesting, portal makes it hard to develop good players

As far as His initial year, he took over an 1-11 team. He did those kids a favor, by letting know he was re-building. Most transferred down or much lessor conferences

No. I always forget who I bet.

I’m reasonable. I would let him double or nothing, just for the sport of it.

U of Houston also turning over the roster. 26 in the portal.

"Deion will be gone this time next year. He will either go to Florida or Miami."

He isn't going to Miami unless its assistant. Cristobol is recruiting Miami back to national prominence and he has some leash. And Deon not going anywhere as an assistant.

I said when he got the job he would be done in 3 years. I may have been too optimistic.

Re: College Football Spring Portal. - 04/22/24 12:32 AM

Deion is gone after this year. He can’t win up there for a number of reasons.

One a side note.
They passed helmet communication this year. That’s gonna be a game changer. I think it will speed up the game. The communication cuts off at the snap of with 15 seconds on play clock.

Savion Red is gonna jump into the portal. Hell of a player.

I saw the other day Sark was praising the freshmen RBs. That’s the way it goes.
Loyalty is gone on both sides. Can’t be loyal to a player, you just never know what their plans are.

Re: College Football Spring Portal. - 04/23/24 01:55 PM

Used to be a big CFB fan. NIL and the portal have just about ruined it for me. Still better than NFL but NFL Jr has made it tough to watch/follow/be loyal.

Re: College Football Spring Portal. - 04/23/24 02:06 PM

Red never was going to get enough carries to be a key contributor. CJ Baxter and Jaydon Blue will get the bulk of the carries and the Freshman with the crazy name (Quintrevion?) probably also passed him in the depth chart.

He any good? Forced out or chasing more money? I know Arizona State had a pretty good CB enter portal yesterday.

Re: College Football Spring Portal. - 04/23/24 06:41 PM

He was a starter..... I liked him a couple of years ago, he showed promise just didn't take the next step last year.

Re: College Football Spring Portal. - 04/23/24 06:58 PM

That one is surprising considering he was a young starter. He did get burned at times though, esp. in the Sugar Bowl against Washington. Arch burned him in the Spring Game, too.

Re: College Football Spring Portal. - 04/23/24 07:02 PM

I just read this on Reddit, seems to make sense as to reasons for Brooks transferring (and yes RT, he wants more NIL money):

Sark had exit interviews yesterday and reports started coming out to expect someone on defense enter.

Some of the reasons reported so far:

Wasn’t too happy with Barron getting some run at CB

Wasn’t too happy with us potentially grabbing another portal CB

Mismatch between what he wanted from NIL vs his value based on his on field play

Alot of these portal moves are mutually agreed upon. It’s not always some pissed off guy.

Re: College Football Spring Portal. - 04/23/24 10:02 PM

Scholarship numbers are 85. But I have heard if over the 85, NIL can pay tuition for additional players.
Thought I saw somewhere that Michigan had 95.

Red reminded me of Quan Crosby. I hate to see him leave.
