Your Interesting or Fond Mom Stories. - 03/14/24 04:26 PM

Plenty of wonderful memories and interesting stories about my mom aka "Betty Baby".

Incredible woman who raised 9 kids, 7 of them pretty muyloco.

For you younger folks back in the 50' & 60's we did not have automatic dishwashers, clothes washer & drying machines and there were no throw away diapers barf
So imagine having to do all of these things for 9 kids and two adults, dishes in the sink, no biggy, washing clothes in a tub and hang drying in the backyard on a clothes lines, worst of all cleaning cloth diapers that are loaded up with poop, that chit was hard work.

My dad was in the Army and gone over seas a lot, so our house was the hang out for all of our goofy friends.
My mom was a cool bird who liked to have fun but did not take any chit off anybody!

One of my older brother's friend Steve pushed it to far once with my mom. Mom and Steve were at the kitchen table talking about? when I walked up. I heard Steve say to my mom that she had never worked a day in her life. hammer
She angrily told him that she worked harder than any man she had ever met, raising 9 kids by herself and putting up with their friends!
She then told Steve to get out of her house right now! clap

My mom once told me when I was in my early 20's that I should get rich quick so I could afford her the lavish life style she deserves to live in after raising us kids and putting up with our friends. I replied mom, you should have married a rich guy so we all could have lived lavishly, she smirked.

What a beauty!! Most women back then were, and had the class and personality to take it up another 20 notches. My mother was and is still a beauty as well. Hard for any woman in life to compare to them.

My mom was the best they made. Not enough time to tell all the stories but we loved to laugh. She was the kind that would let you fall right on your rear, learn your lesson and tell you to get up.

Think my favorite story was when I 1st started dating my wife. I was 28 and she was at moms with me for Christmas. Mom grabbed me by the ear twisted it and said “boy if you run this one off I’ll whoop you” I pushed her off and laughed at her.

Reason that was good was because she never said a word one about any girl I dated. Never knew if she liked them or not.

She left us November 9th 2016. Cancer is a

Lost my Mother when I was 9 years old. That was 37 years ago and I still have very fond memories of her being the most loving sweetest angel of a mother a kid could ever ask for. I remember that beautiful smile while she cooked it up in the kitchen. I got my love of cooking from her, and she always let me pull up a chair to stand on next to her so I could help her cook. I do believe that she has been my guardian angel.

My mom moved and I went and picked up a washer/dryer set from her house.

When she got settled into where she was at, I called her to bring them back and then she told me to keep them for payment for helping her out. Few months later my sister calls asking when she can come get her washer and dryer back…

Mom set the amateur national championship in the cat toss when I was a teen. We didn’t have a lot of money, so a steak or a roast was a big deal. She splurged and got a big roast for the family. Left it on the kitchen counter while she went and did something else. When she went back to the kitchen, no roast. She thought it was funny practical joke until she realized we didn’t do it. A couple of days later, she found the roast behind the big chest freezer, on the back porch. That was back in the days when we had a clothesline in back of the house. She grabbed that cat by the body, kicked open the back door, went into the yard, grabbed the squalling cat by the tail and spun and did an Olympic style hammer throw with the cat, who cleared the clothesline by quite a margin. It was impressive.

My Moms birthday would be this Sunday, day before mine. She passed very young 1979 while I was in college. Alzheimer's before the really know what Alzheimer's was.

It was a tough time for Dad, my sister and me.

Mom always had time for me. In fact, she took me fishing and to The Winchester Gun Club for my first job shooting lesson.

My grandfather once gave my mom some perfume or cologne or some such thing as a gift and she didn't particularly like it. She asked my grandad about it because she wanted to exchange it or get the refund. He told her her he bought it at Dillard's or some such place. Off to Dillard's went Mom, package in hand.

Customer Service refused to take it back. Big mistake! Mom raised cain. They still refused. Mom raised more cain and asked for a manager. The manager refused to take it back. Big mistake. Mom continued to raise cain. The manager informed her that they had never carried this product.

Mom told the manager that her daddy told her her he'd bought it right there in their store, and if her daddy said so, it was immutable FACT. The manager balked. Big mistake.

Mom threatened to call all the resources at her disposal if they did not issue a refund "right here and right now." After enduring this beatdown, the manager relented and yielded to her demands. Good move on the part of the manager.

When Mom returned home (she lived with the grandparents) and told my grandad what those you-know-whats at Dillard's put her through, he laughed.

"Why are you laughing, Daddy? It's not funny!"

"I didn't buy it at Dillard's. I bought it at The Popular."

True story. roflmao

My mom was both a sweetheart and a pistol. When she thought she was right about something there was no force on earth that could dissuade her. She's been gone 34 years and I miss her every day.

Mom was a saint.
Here's just one story about her.....

When I was a Senior in High School, I was working a night job in South Dallas. One night, bad weather moved in - snow, sleet, etc., - and long story short - I got stuck in South Dallas in a storm at 11 p.m.

Mom pulled her car out of the garage and was trying to figure out how to put snow chains on it. A close friend of mine happened along and he put the chains on the car and then both of them drove to South Dallas at midnight to rescue me.

God bless her and keep her forever.

When I was around 7=8 years old a buddy of mine and I were in the back seat of the car - My Mom stopped to get gas and while we were sitting there I saw a couple of pennys on the floor board. So trying to show off for my friend I threw them out of the window.

Mom turned around and told me "you get out right now and pick that money up. Don't you ever waste money again" - talk about a life lesson!

Like most Moms, she was a special lady. She passed some years back but I still think of her every day. To this day I still have people stop me and tell me "your Mom brought me to the Lord" - what a blessing

I see couples struggling with one infant in restaurants and I always think about my mom having to take me (newborn), my sister (1), and my two brothers (2 and 3 years old respectively) to Germany by herself. My dad was in the Air Force and he always went ahead when we moved to set up housing and start his job.

I guess I was the fourth of Irish Quadruplets. I was too young to remember it, but i sure bet we were hated on the flight over.

She was a great Mom. Not a June Cleaver mind you, but I would give anything to have her back!

When I was in high school, about 40gr ago, I left a joint laying on the dash of my car. My mom borrowed my car and found it. When she got back she asked me what it was, I explained to her that I had ran out of cigarettes and had to roll one up. She knew I smoke so that was the end of it.

My mom brought home klobasniks for my brother and me one Saturday morning. He was probably 16 or 17 at the time and told her he really wanted McDonalds for breakfast. She took that paper bag filled with Czech goodness, smashed it into a wad about the size of a softball and hummed it at his head from across the kitchen along with a few choice words. It's funny now but was scary as hell at the time and I had to eat cereal.
