Tempur-pedic mattress and base - 03/03/24 11:08 AM

Are Tempur-Pedic mattresses and adjustable bases worth the money? I looked at their high stuff yesterday and while they felt great, they’re very expensive.

I have always heard if they are too hot in the summer.

I’m not a fan but my wife would curb stomp someone over our Tempurpedic.

Our Tempur-pedic memory foam has been on a regular box spring for over 10 years so no help on the adjustable base, but the mattress itself is awesome. We've never found it to be too hot and we sleep with flannel sheets year-round, but it also looks like they have cooling models now. The trick is to find the right balance of plush/firmness. I probably looked like a crazy man bouncing around to all the different mattresses in the store, but finally settled on a fairly firm model.

Very much worth the price. sleep2

I was looking at the new Luxe Brewze version and that thing had some voodoo magic going on. The dang thing actually felt noticeably cooler to the touch than any other bed we looked at. Thanks for the input.

Wife took her mother bed shopping, went to Nebraska Furniture, Rooms to Go and another place. Ended up getting her a Temper-Pedic mattress and the frame that raise up & down from Nebraska Furniture Mart, $3,400 for the mattress, $1,400 for the adjustable bed frame.
They pitch you on $100. mattress cover that extends the warranty to 10 years, Wife said it is thin like a sheet.

If you are on Medicare and have doctors prescription for a new mattress, you can get re-imbursed for the sales tax on the mattress and possibly on the frame, the mattress has to be built a certain way to qualify.

I have told my wife for too long that we need a new mattress, she decided to bust a move and get us a new one last week.
Now with all of her new vast wealth of knowledge on the matter, she went online and found this store "Mattress Clearance Centers" on Arapaho Rd in Richardson.
Ended up buying a king size Super Pedic cooling mattress for $1,400 (comes with a 20 year warranty) which I thought was way to much money for a mattress? Wife loves it, I like it a lot.

Got to be huge mark-ups in mattress, probably all furniture.

PSA when buying a fancy mattress: if you get a prescription from your doctor, you won’t pay sales tax.

I’m on my second Tempur and love it. Got my first back in 2002. Csnt speak for the adjustable bases.

Mattresses are outrageous on price these days.
Before you buy from a box store, check out the people that make them...

Don't forget the pillows. I'm using a Sutera for side sleeping and love it.

I stayed at my GF's after knee replacement surgery and she has a Tempur-Pedic. It was great being able to raise and lower.

I forgot about the adjustable base. That’s one part about it that I do like. We sleep flat normally but after surgery she had to sleep with her head elevated for two months. That was nice, she otherwise would have been in a recliner.

On a more entertaining note I’ve saved her coffee drinking setting. I sneak in at 05:00 and sit her coffee beside the bed, then shake her, hit the button, and run away. After the beast has settled, I come back into the room to establish my dominance again. Until she needs her second cup of course.

We had the full monte and were underwhelmed. Some of the features are nice -- the adjustments, the magic fingers. If you have small dogs build a one-by pine fence around the base to keep them out from under there. Why you ask? I heard puppy giggling one afternoon and found the rascals under the bed chewing the wiring ...

Tempurpedic mattress and adjustable base sure helped relieve a lot of my back pain at night. Ours has a zero gravity position that we sleep in...only bad thing is once ya get used to it any other flat mattress SUCKS... when we stay in hotels, I don't sleep very well at any of them

We have one in our guest room. Everyone likes it, but it was too firm for me. I have had a sleep number for about 8 years and will never have anything else.
