When I was doing this, I opted for purification tablets over filtration. I always had plenty of clean, moving water to draw from and stayed ahead by pulling water when I could, dropping in a tablet and drinking it a few hours later. I also cooked with a Jetboil so that handled the water I cooked with. There may be better equipment now, but the tablets cut weight and room in my pack. I was always on the move, different camp every night. If I was day hiking/hunting from a base, a filtration pump would win out.

If you are backpacking I like the Sawyer Squeez or the Squeeze Mini for water. I use an Anker Nitecore 10,000 ah for charging. I would test it out at home but I can do 4 days with just my Anker charger. I use it to charge an iPhone SE and Garmin InReach mini.

Power
* Anker Powerport 21W - solar
* Anker 325 (20k mAH) - power bank

Purification
* Steripen - UV purification
* Katadyn Micropur - chemical (drops) purification
* Aquamira - chemical (tablets) purification

Storage and Filtration
* Bandana - filtration (into Befree)
* Katadyn Befree 1L - storage/drinking/filtration (into Camelbak)
* Camelbak Crux 2L - storage/drinking

I don't always take the Steripen. Over time I've noticed that Bobo and I often have similar or the same products.

I’ve had luck using this little job for a few days in the backcountry. Can charge my iPhone and Inreach using it. Charge it before I hit the trail and use it as a battery bank although it does have the solar charging option.
I’ll usually carry a fuel cell as a backup.

For water purification I’ve been using iodine tabs. My buddy has had ghiardia twice and uses the steripen. Not digging the steripen in any way, but I’m sticking with tabs.

What I carry depends on if I plan on staying mobile the entire time or setting up a base camp of sorts

I have a solar charging power bank from GOODAAA. It has built in charger lines for iPhone. Can charge with a cord or via solar. I like it because I can strap it on top of my pack to charge during the day when I’m hiking. If you only need to power a phone or gps once a day, it’s superb. It’s also not terribly heavy.

I got real stressed any time I had real cloudy water w/the pen. But for clear and Nalgene it was the ticket, alot easier on the hands. Water purification I seem to always be rotating

I switched up my med/oops kit this year. I tend to revamp every two years as it gets raided. I bought this one and added tube of super glue, 4 pouches of Pyro Putty, 4 aquamira tabs and some superskin to it, and Im trying to stay completely out of it.
