I never quite knew what to think about Tom Terrific. It was at least a cartoon, but kinda weird. And yes, I started watching Captain Kangaroo from the very start, in the 1950s. Eisenhower was president.

If you grew up in Dallas back in the 70's you had to be on the Bozo Show and if you got lucky you could get up there and play for the prizes.

I remember a show called The New Zoo Revue with Freddie the frog times sure did seem simpler.

In Tulsa we had uncle zeb. Cartoons and games and they all got to say hi to everyone on the way out.

yeah I always tell people that back in the 1950's and 60's I was my Dad's remote for the TV. I would be on the couch and he would say "Son, go change the station"

Change the station was simple, that was change it to the other station we could get. One was nice and clear picture the other was snowy but still watchable with an outdoor antenna, when boosters came along it got rid of the snow but no additional programming. A lot of the shows mentioned we never saw.

Great times overall to grow up.

Anyone else have a pipe wrench permanently attached to the rotating antennae?

No, but foil on the rabbit ears, and constantly fiddling with the horizontal and vertical stabilizers. The little GE took a while for the tubes to warm up, too.

I was sent out in all types of weather to turn the antenna. I can still hear "back", "good" "no, keep going, stop, the other way, no, no, no, that's good, #!%*"

Anybody remember displays in stores that sold replacement tubes for tv’s?

Yep, and they also had the tester right there.
