9-11....I told them! School District

9-11....I told them! School District - 09/12/23 01:27 AM

My name is --------. My daughter has been a student of Melissa ISD from kindergarten to now high school freshman. She told me this evening there was no mention of September 11, 2001 at all today. I have been a career Firefighter/Paramedic for the ------------- Fire Department since July 2001. I was 21 years old. I have spent the last 22 years continuing to answer 9-1-1 calls and am still active duty. The year that I was of minimum age to have the legal ability to do many things, began in 2001. I have spent my whole adult life, and career in Fire/EMS with the memory of 9-11-01.

We were only sixty days into a hopeful 25 to 30 year career in Fire/Rescue/EMS. We were students in Paramedic school at Methodist hospital Dallas. And we watched, with the rest of the world, our country under attack on September 11, 2001. We watched our countrymen die. We watched the living, attempting with all their might, to help their neighbors. Usually complete strangers. We watched FDNY answer, climb, and none refused a single order. We watched NYPD perform in the same way. We watched the Port Authority personnel perform in the same way. We watched any boat or ship, nearby evacuate every living soul that needed it, from Manhattan Island. Strangers rescuing strangers. Americans helping Americans.

Total killed 2753

FDNY 343 (greatest loss of Firefighter lives in one incident, in world history)

NYPD 23

Port Authority 37

Operation Enduring Freedom 2,343

Those are the lives lost because of 9-11-01

And the Melissa Independent School District cannot even officially mention it today and every September 11 that follows? You should be ashamed of yourselves. You have taken for granted the blood, sweat and tears shed for you and your families everyday from then to now. You have taken for granted the Soliders, Marines, Sailors and Airmen that stand ready to defend America, Texas, and Melissa every day. You have taken for granted the Firefighters that stand ready to put out your fires, cut the crashed car away from you, deliver your babies, save your spouse from a heart attack. You have taken for granted the Law Enforcement officers that stand ready to defend you against evil, and render aid as swiftly as possible.

Where is my America? Where is the appreciation and patriotism that we saw on September 12, 2001?

It is not within the Melissa Independent School District. You could not take five minutes out of your busy day to at least acknowledge the sacrifices made, that affords you your way of lives?

Shame on you.

I'm sorry to hear that, and I support your message.

You'll be glad to know there are some that honor the people. A family member's child's school acknowledged the event today. The whole school watched a 10 minute remembrance video and had discussion after.

Collin county will be blue.

Here’s the path. A have a buddy/coworker who moved from CA. He’s hardcore conservative. He would vote Trump all day. I asked him about his wife. He said she leans conservative and would never vote Trump. Just wouldn’t vote.

So we’re even. Now, he says her liberal sister is moving here with her liberal husband and 20 year old liberal daughter.

Plus 3 liberals.

Re: 9-11....I told them! School District - 09/12/23 06:16 PM

I stand for this message as well. Good on you Jason!

I vividly remember where I was when the radio broke and said a small plane had crashed into the first tower. At that point no one in the public knew what was going on, certainly not anyone in the military. I was driving from Lackland AFB to Ft Sam Houston, and on the way the second plane hit and I knew then this was no accident. By the time I got into BAMC everyone was just peeled onto televisions, very surreal. When the call came they hit the Pentagon, it brought things home, and then they were going after the capital or WH or something. No panic. Just determined action. Shortly after the base locked down. The lock down ended just before "quitting" time and we all went home, knowing some were not going to be home long. I was to report the next morning to Lackland, got in my rental car and went to drive the short distance from my hotel to the base, and quickly turned around and parked at the hotel. It was a day to walk in, as traffic was already miles long and as I got to the gate, it was obvious why. I walked thru, got to Wilford Hall and no one was there except me and a couple of full birds. As the day went on, several of the staff in the dept showed up with their bags ready to go, the higher ups thought the need for eye injury treatment would be high so the ophthalmology dept was somewhat activated, but no one ended up going. There wasn't a need. I returned home back to Andrews AFB the first day planes flew, friday sept 14. I made it into BWI airport at 2 or 3 am due to many flights still cancelled, consolidated, and bomb threats causing evacuations of DFW airport twice while I was there waiting. It was a time I won't forget. Eventually got a trip to the middle east out if it all...compared to Iraqi summers texas has nothing on heat.

That is exactly the character I would expect out of such a terrible person as yourself.

I'm old enough to retire. I'm old enough to be President of the United States. And accepting how life works, as you say, is what I am not going to do. All those events you have mentioned, I have studied in detail. Because they matter. The people matter. And I care.
