I can't remember when was the last time that I was watching every play with as much angst as I will be watching the Natl. Championship game tomorrow night. Maybe, hopefully the boys in purple can pull it off!

Im going for TCU for many reasons.

But, I think they are gonna be overmatched and it won’t be close.

An SEC program has taken the title for 12 of the last 16 years, and had at least one team in all but one of those 16 games.

You can say what you want about the Aggies and Longhorns but you can't say they've avoided getting on the field with SEC teams.

You’ll have to look up those statistics. But I stand by what I said. These guys making a lot of programs look foolish and I like it. You picking out a few is goofy, but you do you.

Good run, but yall just got out athlete...... I thought Georgia would get to the QB, and negate the passing game, I was surprised on how well they contained the QB run game. Georgia's offense just wrecked that 3-3-5. They got side to side, ran the QB, and most importantly threw it over the top. They kept yalls D guessing. Their game plan was on point. I would say there is always next year.......but I'd be lying. grin

Rub it in all you want. Like it, love it, or hate it TCU played their way into the playoffs. They were picked 7th pre-season in the Big XII. They played for a Natty last night. Yes, they got their azz kicked. Sucks after such a magical season. Any Horned Frog that would tell you pre-season they wouldn't have signed up for a 13-2 finish with a spot in the National Championship game is a liar. Knowing the outcome I'd still go to ever game. Memories made with family and friends that will never be erased. Granted I hope I can flush that game last night. roflmao Don't buy things, but invest in memories. Still proud to be a Horned Frog. Bleed Purple or Bleed OUT!!!

Wow don't remember anything about a pipe dream. Although I did think Michigan was going to beat TCU they s*** the bed. And national championships are 100% tied to stacking top 10 recruiting classes year in and year out. Look it up.

How is that recruiting strength working out for UT and A&M? That strength number means nothing if you can’t run the ball for more than 28 yards in a game. 28 yards isnt coaching its will to win.

Look I’m for ALL Texas based schools to be dominate. Whether it’s TCU or UT or ACU or TSU . I want all Texas based FCB and FSB teams to excel. I don’t understand the whole strict Tshirt fan school thing, but I will always support Texas schools and Kids.

Both oline and him are fine. It’s one game. You have a team that started re-preparing for an NC the minute they beat Bama in 21 season NC vs a team that hadn’t even meet their coaches yet during same time. TCU had National expectations of 5-5. Hat tip to GA probably the most prepared and focused NC game I’ve seen. That’s football at its finest. At same stand point TCU just had an unbelievable will to win against a lot of odds.

NC is a whole different dance. You saw who was more tenured in dealing with the Bowl distractions. I do think regular season that’s a different ball game. Maybe not different out come but much different performance and score.

I hate seeing guys leave early for draft, but completely understand it.

You can't run the ball, no problem we'll just throw it over the 3-3-5 defense.... Problem is that with no offensive line the five star QB doesn't have the time to get the ball to his high 4 star WR.

On the other side let's recruit a couple of 5 star safety and some high star CBs, but let's not pay any attention to the line, now the D is getting gashed by the run, and with all the time in the world the WRs will find separation from those high 4, and 5 star DBs.

Without a deliberate recruiting strategy those stars don't add up. Luckily Sark realizes the problem and has been deliberate in recruiting. Just look at the new look lineman he has brought in. Texas is on the right track.

Hell and to add to all that, firing coaches every other season doesn't help either.

Hating no. You are still talking about “buying” an offensive line to be able to rush 28 yards. That’s the mentality disorder you can’t get over. Just go “buy” a recruiting class. How about build a “Team environment ” first. Fix the environment, stop trying to buy athletes to make a team. You have too build a program people want to be at and will be loyal too. That’s the difference. Just keep chasing recruiting class rankings, and not the right kids. The non-release /sit out a year transfer rules are gone. So now you can just keep bidding..lol

UT has had one 10 win season since 2010. TCU with a 1/10 the recruiting strength is at 6. Might be it’s time to change the mentality of the boosters and program.

My previous team has the number one rushing offense in the nation, and won their bowl game.
They don’t have a kid over 300lbs or a four plus star recruit on the oline.
They went 10-3.
They have had “5” 10 game winning seasons in the last 10 years, with not one five or four star recruit.
They actually turned down the Big 12 offer to join their conference.
They build teams that out play bought athletes consistently.
No one expects them to ever win a NC, but you probably shouldnt bet against them in individual games because how disciplined they are and tend to play way above their pay grade, ask Lou Holtz,
They would have caused UT to commit Seppuku this year, But TCU for sure and maybe Okla State would have murdered them though.
I was actually hoping they were going to play Okla St instead of Baylor in bowl game because I knew the Baylor out come already.

I'm glad TCU made the NC game, wish it would have been a little closer. Impressive that a smaller school like TCU can compete with schools 4x-5x their size. I was pulling for them to keep it close, but unfortunately Georgia just outmatched them. No conference or team can consistently compete with the best of the SEC...not much else to it.

Ha!! I get it. My wife is an Aggie, well 1 of 15 in her family. Holidays come with 6 maroon vehicles in the drive way. It’s a little weird. I wish the A&M of the 90’s would come back but it’s going to be a while.

Though I agree with you that they must recruit good players across the board at every position, I don't agree with you that UT has lacked the talent needed up front. What they've lacked for a long, LONG time is development of good players to make them great!

2019 to 2022 Offensive & defensive line recruiting. These are kids that were signed by each school the previous 4 years!

And it's even worse probably by the numbers when looking at aTm's last 4 years of recruiting classes!
Granted, a huge chunk of their's were true freshman last year including 4 true freshman 5-star D-lineman.

aTm 2019-2022 recruiting classes for the big nasties:

5 Stars O-Line = 1
5 Stars D-Liine = 5
4 Stars O-Line = 9
4 Stars D-Line = 16
3 Stars O-Line = 7
3 Stars O-Line = 2

17 O-lineman from 3 to 5 stars & 23 D-Lineman 3 to 5 star. SMDH

I still think UT would have had a NC under Strong if the could have just given him time, and stayed out of his way.

Grant it I have a very defense type bias, but I think he had the right mentality to balance out that program.

Nope, Texas didn't give him the resources he needed, but they sure as hell did for Herman.... we were big fans of Strong, still are.

Herman recruited 270-285 lb lineman. When he came in he actually said some of his OL were fat....and out of shape. He wanted to spread the defense out and run the QB, he said he like the numbers game, so recruiting run blockers wasn't a priority.

Sark was surprised that he only had 8 offensive lineman on scholarship, and 14 WRs......he said those numbers should be flipped around....... Sark and Hand went after guys who can control the line. Almost all are very large humans.

Talk about recruiting strategy, after last years haul of two 5 star, and four 4 star offensive lineman that are huge. This year they went after large guys that can be bulked up, and are more of a project, because of the line he recruited were gonna play for three years. Sark is not hunting stars he being deliberate in who he recruits.

Next years projected line will be 1 senior, 2 sophomores, and 2 redshirt freshman. Thats how bad of a situation the o line was in. Texas got lucky that Jones used his covid year to come back.

I could be full of it, but I guess time will tell.

There were only five, 5 stars OL this year.
Miami has 2
LSU 1
Alabama 1
Pedo State 1

No one is buying more than Miami. They have the easiest path to success with a weak ACC.

They have a championship history, good school. They have no QB. Rumor is they tried to pay Dtake May five million dollars.

I see only four total 5-star kids on the list signed by UT in the last 6 recruiting years and only one was an O-lineman listed as a guard in the 2022 class. The other 3 as a Safety in 2018 (BJ Foster), an Athlete in 2021, and Manning in 2023 class.

I think all 5 lineman UT signed last year were listed as 4-star kids.

Thats a good list to be on. Even more impressive is how they got there from a 5-7 season to a new coach with a bunch of 3 star players.Still dont see how yall beat my Baylor Bears. bang
