I am supposed to complete a survey and say "yes" or "no" by Monday if I want to receive the COVID Vaccine next week being offered to me as a firefighter...

I'm on the fence

Re: Decisión by Monday.... - 12/19/20 12:50 AM

I was just talking to my Physical Therapist about this yesterday. She's also on the fence because she wants another baby next year,

I would imagine my employer (DHS) will require it at some time. I'm retiring in 2021 so verdict is still out for me.

Re: Decisión by Monday.... - 12/19/20 12:51 AM

They sent us an "anonymous" survey to gauge interest in getting the vaccine. The first question in the "anonymous" survey was last name, first name then employee ID. I did not participate.

I don't understand anyone trying to sell others on not taking the vaccine, even it were only 50% effective. I see it as my civic duty. It would still help keep your family safe. Complications have not occurred on the test subjects. flag

It has been rushed into service. It is not proven.

The virus is really no big deal, in spite of what the media makes it out to be. I would rather get sick, and let my body build its' own immunity that to get the vaccine. Same as my parents had me do with the chickenpox. No, I will not change my mind. And no I am not against all vaccines. I am just against one that is months old, instead of decades old.

40 years old, fit, zero health problems, live way out in the country with plenty fresh air. I'll take my chances.

Safe from what? It is more dangerous to drive in the highway than to get Coivd-19.

Complications have not occured YET. One year old virus, four month old vaccine.

There will be adverse reactions just as there is with any and all vaccines and medications...
I will take it... My wife will not per her choice.... My business partner, a physician, took it yesterday... To each their own....
I think by the time it is available for me, we will see if there are wide spread adverse reactions, which I am betting we won’t see....
I am not judging those choosing to not take the vaccine.

Watch that fever and watch your pulse ox...get a meter if you don't have one.

I will be taking the vaccine. I have spoken with too many physicians and medical personnel I know and respect to not take it. I will take it at a hospital/doctor's office because I am allergic to certain medications and apparently that can be a risk with the Pfizer one. I am not, at least to my knowledge, however, allergic to any vaccines.

This is nothing more than a money grab from a fake “pandemic”. For my age group I’m over 99% for survival I’ll take that all day everyday over some pharmaceutical companies medicine.

Most likely we’ll be seeing commercials in 3-5 years saying “did you or one of your loved ones take the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and develop zombism? You might be entitled to cash payout.”

Re: Decisión by Monday.... - 12/19/20 03:39 AM

When it becomes available I will follow my doctors advice. But each his own.

The big issue with Covid is the randomness of how hard it hits some people. Both my parents are older and at risk. If their doctor recommends it, I would trust that.

Another issue to me is the virus itself. If it’s man made and engineered, how is that going to interact with the synthetic vaccine. Then put in the mutations it will take. It’s a movie script for sure.

He’s 78. I learned earlier tonight from my sister that he wants to postpone Christmas until him and my Mom have had both shots. Said it will make him feel much better. And that’s his choice to make I guess.

Sucks because I was sick over Thanksgiving running fever and feeling horrible. Turned out not to be covid, but I didn’t want to risk getting the parents sick and we didn’t know what it was at that time.

This week my son’s friend tested positive and they quarantined part of the basketball team. I think that coupled with my sisters friend testing positive, has kinda scared him. His buddies are all scared as well.

Right now, I don't think the department is going to require it. Where things could get muddy is if TDSHS requires all EMTs and Paramedics to get the vaccine to retain our certifications. In that case, I would probably go back to being a full time welder/fitter, and continue with all the business I conduct on my rifle range.

Giving up a career, 5 years from retirement eligibility would be a huge decision, and that's the decision I would probably make.

Re: Decisión by Monday.... - 12/19/20 06:41 PM

I plan to not take it for a while, as I see what impact it has in terms of side effects. It appears that there are side effects, so I’d like a look at it longer term. They did rush this vaccine development. Years ago my boss was pestering me to solve a problem, and I told him he could have a fast answer or the right answer. They aren’t necessarily the same answer.

Recently I saw data from a poll on who was willing to take it and who wasn’t. It was even broken down into gender and race. I really was surprised what a low percentage of people were wanting the shot.
Posted By: dogcatcher

Re: Decisión by Monday.... - 12/19/20 07:10 PM

By the time the vaccine has been given to the top tier people across the country, it will have been tested enough for most of the public. There are a million plus nursing home residents, the Doctors and Nurses number over 3 million. So 4 million plus test subjects. Anything less than 400 deaths from the vaccine is better odds than the virus.

Hopefully it works good enough to get the kids back into schools, the bars open for the drunks, and the food places available for those that cannot cook. If you have children, the first one is the most important, quite a few have already lost a good part of a year of their education. Not to slight the bars and restaurants, the cities, counties and state depends on those tax dollars to line some of the pockets.

I would get a fake vaccination from “my own” doctor before I would give up your job.

Re: Decisión by Monday.... - 12/19/20 09:36 PM

I wonder how much liability a company will face if they require a vaccine and the vaccine causes health issues.

Here comes another TV ad:

"If you were employed with XYZ and required to take the C19 vaccine and now suffer from... give us a call, you may be entitled to a large cash award."

Re: Decisión by Monday.... - 12/19/20 09:37 PM

Offering these vaccinations, IMO, is more to cover the employers rear end than to help you. Will they have any liability if something negative happens after you get the injection? I'm almost willing to bet the answer is they will have zero liability.

I'm just getting through this pestilence and do NOT want even a slight re occurrence.

Big Nope because the science is rushed, the results have been groomed, and the side effects are all over the place. Had the COVID and survived. Vaccines should be used for truly devastating pathogens like smallpox and polio

You had the virus and survived without any medical intervention of note.

What's the point of the C Vaccine?

You know when there is about 30 years of failed presidents and top failed democrat leaders lining up to tell you how nice the shot is, you best pull your head out of your rear. [Linked Image]

Re: Decisión by Monday.... - 12/20/20 07:12 PM

I see one Doctor at least once a month, another at least every 2 months. I have asked all of the Nurses and Doctors about the vaccine multiple times. They have all said yes they will take the shots. These people have kept me going, the least I can do is take the shots, and hopefully it will help keep them safer. After all they have done for me, I feel I owe them the safety factor of taking the shot so that I do not expose them to the virus.

I'm around doctors and nurses daily and it's about 50/50.

My good friend who is a PA and who's wife is undergoing cancer treatment told me their Oncologist said she would not be getting it and advised them to wait.

I'm supposed to fill out the survey today...

Still undecided

I volunteered to be one of the first to take it for hospital employees. But I'm not a front line worker. So far, the main complaints we are seeing is a sore arm and slight fever. Both go away after 24 hours. I gladly will take a vaccine for a virus that currently is the leading cause of death in the US.

Ditto, but our first shipment of 300 doses hasn't arrived yet. I look at it as taking one for the team. I'm old(ish) and if it kills me I doubt anyone will lose much sleep. Much better me than the 20 or 30 something year old with a family to support.

Hard nope for me. I don't need Viagra or the Covid-19 vaccination. If we were stacking bodies like cordwood it'd be different. This whole thing is a crock of [censored] and I'm sick of it.

I’m not going to play it unless someone knocks on my door with a gun and needle and at that point one of us is going to die on the spot. It may be me but I’ll go out unpunctured that’s for sure flag I’m no bad a&& and don’t claim to be one but I’m Wirey lol woot

For those who were wondering..

I was unable to fill out the survey on my phone and was off duty all week so I did not get the vaccine. I believe all but one other at my station got it.

I do plan to get it as soon as I can.

Good move. The virus would blamed on you if any of their extended families caught it.
