Painful, unbelievably so

Painful, unbelievably so - 11/03/20 08:20 PM

Saturday evening, at 5:41pm, I sat alone beside my mother on her bedside, held her hand, and looked upon her face as she died. I was very close to my mother, a momma's boy. I spoke to her all the time and never imagined what it would be like to not hear her voice again. I can honestly say I've never felt so much pain in my life.

Experiences like that made me realize long ago the wastefulness of finding offense in the actions of another. And the importance of finding faith in God and seeing the good in others. Without it, we are lost.

I am sorry for your loss, Sir. It hurts losing your Mother. May she rest in peace.

I agree with your statement, and I believe in God. You will see her again, just as I will see my parents again someday.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 24 years ago and I still think about her all the time. It doesn't feel like it right now, but the pain does subside over time even though we never stop missing them.

Yep. If you don't know God everything will piss you off. My grandma told me forgive and forget and if you have to go somewhere and start over to forget it's okay too but forgiveness is key. Don't burden your life with heavy baggage that others can't carry and try to throw on your back, you can weight yourself down enough by yourself but you have to learn what to hold on to and what to let go of both spiritually and materialistically.

Sorry for your loss. Parents, especially the ones we are close to are a very hard loss.

I watched my dad battle cancer for 2.5 years, knowing the entire time it would be fatal. He moved in with us for 2 years and died in hospice in our house. You would think 2.5 years of knowing the inevitable is coming would prepare someone, but I called like a baby at his funeral. He was my hunting buddy for 20+ years, the woods just haven’t been the same without him.

Re: Painful, unbelievably so - 11/03/20 09:45 PM

Sorry for your loss - unfortunately, other than those that pass before their parents, we all have to face this inevitability, and it stinks. The good news, once the pain goes away, it is replaced with the good memories. Looking back on life, and just about everyone is in the same boat, we do not do a good enough job of appreciating our parents when they are around, and often don't realize it until too late.

RIP Mom...

Re: Painful, unbelievably so - 11/03/20 09:46 PM

Dear brother. I will pray that the Lord will give you a peace and calm during this painful time in your life. This earth is but a temporary place for Christians. We shall all be together again in heaven. Only a pure and absolute love, a Christlike love, can create the pain you feel now. You are a blessed man to have such a love. To know such a love. To share such a love with your mother.

My deepest sympathies. Lost my Mom a year and a half ago. Think of her everyday. Had several dreams, and one was incredible. Not only got to see her, but we also hugged. To me, that's their way of letting us know they're still a part of our lives.

Prayers for peace and comfort.

Re: Painful, unbelievably so - 11/03/20 10:53 PM

Sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad Jan 2019 and my Mom June 2020. Because of the COVID we haven’t even had Mom’s funeral yet- just her interment.
While I miss them both, I take comfort in that they are better off and together again.
And while it is right to mourn them, I also know - as a parent myself- that one of the hallmarks of being a great parent is raising your children to be self-sufficient. So rejoice in the thought that she is and was exceedingly proud of you as a son.

Re: Painful, unbelievably so - 11/03/20 11:06 PM

I am so very sorry for your loss.

I am very blessed to have my mother. I, too, am a bit of a momma's boy. We have bought several properties together, remodeled houses together, traveled, etc. She's 69, but in good health...pray she's here many more years. I remember when she lost her mother. My mom was 44 at the time and literally overnight her bangs turned from blonde to gray....strangest thing I've ever seen. It was painful to watch her mourn...truly painful.

My heart breaks for you and my prayers go up for you and all she leaves behind.

Just continue to be the good man that you are and bring your kids over every chance you get. There is no good way to handle it.

Spend as much time as you can with your folks Red, this life is short. Cherish them.
