That's the same way I got tested for the flu. I never wanted to throat punch a nurse so bad in my life. I told her the next time they just needed to assume I had the flu and treat it as such and I didn't care if it killed me. roflmao

Re: CoVid-19 PSA - 03/22/20 08:07 PM

I did various nose swabs when I worked in the ER. I’ve never done one, or seen one done, that deep. They go deep, yes, but that’s insane.

Yes. This is why they say the PPE needed for testing so much.
When they test you with the swab, you are very likely to sneeze or cough. That means the PPE used must be changed and trashed every time someone is tested to prevent spread.

Understand now why they screen people before testing? It is not just a little swab of the nose.

Re: CoVid-19 PSA - 03/22/20 08:13 PM

I can tell you with my test she had a long swab and she went all the way from muzzle to chamber.

From what they are saying. They need to get to the back of the nasal cavity to get a better chance to detect the virus.

Same thing happened to me in December. Thought I had the flu and got tested. I guess I’ve never been tested before because that was a huge surprise to me. Burned like hell too.

Mexico and Brazil will be an absolute real mess.
You have 2 Presidents there who absolutely ignore the pandemic.
German chancellor is the only leader in the World who is doing things right.

The fact that Texas is not under lockdown is absolutely shameful.
I guarantee you, at some point we will. We are just waiting like idiots for the numbers to go up and pull the trigger.

I agree with you. I probably should have stayed home today but we were out of a couple of things so I ventured to Walmart. There were whole family units there shopping instead of just sending 1 person. There was a young couple there with their 6 month old baby. Unless something major happens I don't plan on leaving the house for the next few weeks except to fish or check on feeders (same place).

Meh, don't worry about the test. Unless you are near death they will not test you, CDC is no longer attempting to track all the cases......

Bro. Every thread. It’s tiring. There’s already a prediction thread and a market thread.

Hoping for the US economy to tank is flat out unamerican. You'd think he'd be grateful to be allowed in this great country.

What exactly is a “lockdown” going to do that isn’t already happening? We aren’t going to stop people from going to the gas station, grocery store, pharmacy or any other critical business. Basically what is already happening now. What good is some civil mandate that will either be unenforceable, illegal or ignored by most? I keep hearing how a lockdown is imminent and I should be afraid or whatever....Working in the healthcare sector my wife and I are immediately exempt from anything like that....along with millions of others that are critical to keeping the state running. A lockdown will mean nothing other than being a strong suggestion to stay home. What good will that actually do?

I don't know, it may keep people from going out and doing whatever. We have people around here acting like it's no big deal "It's just the flu".

Honestly speaking... This particular virus is not piling bodies in the streets. So far it has a 97-98% survival rate. I don’t want people to die but in the grand scheme we loose people to many many more people to other things and society just doesn’t care about those. Here is an example. The entire state of Delaware is on a “shelter in place” order. Non-essential businesses are ordered closed. And guess to what was exempted.... Liquor stores. Yes liquor stores are considered essential. wtf
In the end everyone is likely to get this virus at some point. I get they are trying to slow things down but what is all this shutdown going to cost the US in the long term? I feel all this political posturing, economic shut down and bail out is riskier than the impacts of the virus itself.

I was talking to a friend of mine today whose wife is an ER nurse and they are already out of PPE. How would you feel about flattening that curve if the your wife the mother of your children was the one out there trying to take care of the sick?

Had a pre-op lab including swab on Friday. Tech didn't go that deep I don't think, actually kind of tickled and my eyes started watering. Negative anyway!
