Yes sir I couldn't agree more on Damuth. In this area theres Damuth and then there is everyone else. They are a little more expensive than everyone else but like most things you get what you pay for.

I just spent 3 days hunting in the Fredonia area on the Southeast side of Brady on hwy 71 in Mason County. I spend a lot of time in the Salt Gap area fishing in a 10 acre Corp.of Engineer tank. I have moved to the Metro-Plex Area after 14 years in Brady, needless to say I need to move back asap. Not many Deer in Denton.

My fiance just bought a place 2 years ago that is 1/4 mile south of that tank. It is actually the salt gap mountain range....

part of my post got cut off...we hunt there almost every weekend and also hunt in Mason county near Castell a lot as well. I will say that Salt Gap has some great deer. Also- I think I can see that tank from my deer blind...the one you hunted at.

I know exactley where you are, and would like to hunt with you just as soon as I get my arse back to the Brady area. The weather has not been the greatest for the big bucks yet. Do you have your blinds set up where you can watch the wheat field line? I have scoped some good bucks out in the field there to bad I just had my fishing pole. The owners of the lake have had the hunting leased out for the past 5 years to the same people. Have you seen any Axis? Saw 6 Axis with 2 big bucks by the lake. They travel so you might get a chance at one of them. Do you know the people that own the Corps.Tank ?

We can see the wheat fields from there but I haven't noticed a lot of deer on the wheat fields. Have seen a bunch of Axis and large bucks in the area. We have some great bucks on film. My fiance shot a 6 and half maybe 7 and half yr old 10 pointer, probably score about 130 but he was degressing. We don't know who owns the Corps. Tank. but the lady we bought the place from told us about that tank and that it was a Corps. Tank. She is also the one that has all the Axis on her place...she bought them a few years ago but I know they travel because the neighbors have shot some pretty nice ones and we had 3 on film last year, plus we found a shed when we first got the place. We love it there!

We are just North of there and have not seen any axis. We did have some blackbuck does a couple of years ago.

I have heard that as well. We were kinda surprised to see them. We figured they got in through a culvert or a gate or something. There is a place West of Brady along the Hwy that has a whole herd in one pasture with a low fence.
Send some of those axis our way!

ha-ha...I know...I wish a big horned axis would come our way as well...they all hang out at her house in the safe haven where she feeds them. we were thinking of making a corn trail from her area to our property so the big ones would come our way! ha-ha!
