Youth Over and Under

Youth Over and Under - 08/20/23 08:42 PM

A friend of mine wanted to know which budget friendly Over and Under brand in a Youth size would make a good starter gun for his 10 year old grandson?

I had to admit I was clueless.

He wants a 20 gauge O/U with screw in chokes and a youth size stock.

Any advice on good or bad brands that you have personal experience owning would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I bought one of these from a buddy of mine. My son is the second kid to use it. I like it a lot. Hundreds of rounds and no problems.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am thinking that the length of pull may be a bit long for another year or two for my friend's grandson.

Stevens compact youth 20 gauge OU. Twenty four inch barrel with 13.5 pull. I had one for my wife and it fit and shot well. Price is good as well. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product...55+compact+over+under+shotgun+20+ga+24+b

Is he looking to get into competition sporting clay and skeet shooting or just plain recreational shooting like hunting or low key Trap? If he is looking into staring out in 4H or SCTP groups alot of our first time shooters are coming with SKB shotguns or Tristar settings. Franchi Model I Instinct shotguns also make great guns for both competition and recreational shooting as my daughter started out with a Franchi brand.

The grandfather purchased a Stevens OU for his grandson. The grandson is getting into 4H shooting.

Thanks for the input.
