Re: HANDY LISTING OF ALL TEXAS GUN RANGES - 08/15/07 03:14 PM

This seems like the right place for this issue:

http://www.garlandcitizenforum.org/forums/showthread.php?t=505

The above linke will take you to a discussion thread on the Garland Citizens' Forum pertaining to a review ordered by Councilman Douglas Athas of the continued operation of the Garland Public Shooting Range. The councilman cites reports that some gun range user was "shooting at crows in trees with residences on the other side" & possible "lead contamination" issues as the reasons for the review. While on the surface these seem like reasonable motives for at least an investigative review (even if the lead constamination issue is already known to be nonsense), his post in the thread leads me to believe that he's not being completely honest with regard to his stated reasons for the review.

Discuss. Then, if you're concerned enough about the issue, act.

New 500 yard Range - 10/10/10 04:44 PM

Hey everyone, a new range opened North East of Blue Ridge called Top Gun Shooting Club. (sorry pic size is so big). Haven't been there yet but glad we finally have somewhere to shoot over 100 yards!

I joined this forum just to post this. From my post on another forum...

Top Gun Shooting Club 500 yd range opened north of McKinney. Website is not up yet.
Spread the word! If you know LEOs, Clubs, Iron Sights, 1800s rifles, Steel Target shooters and anyone else... this is the closest 500 yard range to DFW area.

I went out on Friday, Oct 8th, the day after it opened. 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500. It is great!
New members need to hit 8" steel plate at 200 before you can go to 300 and then hit 8" steel to go to 400 out to 500.
FMJ allowed! No steel core or tracers. Again, FMJ allowed!
Iron Sights allowed (Terry, the owner loves 1800s rifles and iron sights)>
Largest rifle they will allow is a .416 mag
Currently is rifle only. Owner wants to go with pistol and cowboy action shooting (something he does) but needs to plow current revenue back into the range.

Everyone has said that the area north of Dallas needs another range and you have that range NOW!
Again, I have heard and made comments that the area north of Dallas needs another outdoor range and now you have it! Go and shoot there!
Before anyone complains that it is too far... realistically, this is as close as a new range is going to get! Is in Fannin County (not Collin) and allows FMJ and goes to 500.
No matter where it was built someone will complain that it is too far but dont do it here
A guy who loves shooting built a big range on his property next to his house and wants to build cowboy shooting and bays and a buncha stuff once money comes in.
Something that we have wished for has come true. Lets go enjoy it.

Re: New 500 yard Range - 10/14/10 08:11 PM

It is in all of our best interests that this range does well. Having a place to shoot over 100 yards is great thing, we can set our DOPE and make ourselves better marksmen in the field. I am telling anyone that will listen about this new range.

Re: New 500 yard Range - 10/25/10 01:27 AM

Just went out there today and you couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of people. The range is in the early stages but its run very well, and honestly everyone there was very nice. As the owner said, everyone he has met since opening the range he would be happy to go hunting with. I really like that you need to qualify at 200 before you can shoot 300 and every hundred yards after that, this rule kind of keeps the people that can't shoot and may be on the less safe side away which is nice.

You have to pay fees on top of that $100 IRRC.

Membership is 100.00 for the year.

The shooting fee for non members is 20.00 per visit. You do not have to join, you may just shoot as a visitor.

If you are a member it will be 15.00 per visit.

At this time we are cash only.

I've been shooting here, the people were very nice. I'm hoping to go back out, and see if I can do some prone shooting. I did not get a chance to ask last time I went out.

Re: HANDY LISTING OF ALL TEXAS GUN RANGES, GUN SHOPS, HUNTERS ED, CHL, FFL, BATF - 06/14/16 03:22 PM

Poetry Shooting Club is close to Dallas 35 miles from east side of Dallas. Less than one hour from most DFW locations. 8 miles north of Terrell.

We are a very low key, private, family style shooting club.

By reservation always and we only book one shooter or group at a time so you feel like you own the range.

Berms at every 100 yards out to 700 hundred. Yes 700 yards.
Membership is so reasonable at $15 per year from Sept to Sept.

Range fee is $25 for one shooter for two hours. Remember totally private.
Additional shooters with membership are $10 each and additional hours when available are $10 each.

We have a clay pigeon machine for pasture clay shooting.

We offer day leases for dove, duck and deer in season.

We are a Private Bird Hunting Area and help DIY dog owners train their bird dogs and offer Guided and Un-Guided quail hunts.

We can also arrange for quail hunts on your land with advance planning.

Shooting instructors available for all shooting disciplines.

We try to accommodate most all types of shooting.

Check out our website at www.poetryshootingclub.com and give us a call to make your reservation.

we look forward to earning your business in the future.

Our Motto

"Take a youth shooting to build boldness and confidence in their future."

(I initially posted this in the wrong place; SAT)

I had seen their building on my way to and from San Antonio, but couldn't figure out how to get to it, since it was on an access road off I-10. Finally figured it out yesterday and dropped in to look the place over. I was blown away! What a beautiful layout they have! Clean as a pin, well lit, lots of gun stuff to fondle and buy, and a great indoor range. They also conduct CCL classes and you can get all your classroom and firing requirements out of the way in one, 5-6 hour session. They offer all kinds of stuff, so check out their web site:

https://www.bing.com/search?q=apache+rif...p;setlang=en-US

They are "veteran friendly;" and active military, LEO, and First Responder friendly as well, offering discounts for various services. If you live within a couple of hours of Comfort, you really need to check this place out. Since getting to it is a bit tricky, here's a hint: coming down I-10 from Kerrville, take Exit 524; if you're coming up I-10 from San Antonio, take Exit 527.

Re: New 500 yard Range - 09/06/20 07:15 PM

Does anyone know of an outdoor range in the DFW area that has rental guns to shoot? Looking to shoot rifles and handguns, preferably from a range that lists what rentals they have. I've been to Alpine Range before for clay shooting and loved it, but I thought their prices for rifle and handgun rentals were a little steep. I only have a shotgun and I'm wanting to try out some other types of firearms. Let me know if you know of any places!!! Thanks
