Austin area eats - 04/15/24 01:30 AM
Gotta make a trip in July for a wedding and we are staying in dripping springs. Probably take a day to go float the river before coming back. Anywhere that’s a must stop? Wouldn’t mind trying some of these big Time bbq places but so far I’ve been disappointed in most that claim to be great.

Then take a pass on Salt Lick in Dripping Springs, ate there many years ago and wayyyy overrated back then. Think the original may have closed some years ago and not sure if replaced even...

a few I would recommend ... Stiles Switch (2 locations, North Lamar (original) and Cedar Park) is one of my favorites. Stubb's is another down town. LA barbeque on the east side. I've heard rave's about Franklin's but I'm not waiting in lines
so many are just more tourist hot spots they call BBQ in my opinion.

If you're driving through Temple/Belton area, check out Miller's Smokehouse in Belton. They're in my top 1 or 2 bbq places in Texas. There's also Best Quality Meats in Temple that's pretty solid. Their brisket and rib plate is almost a weekly occurrence for me.

Millers is great, I’ll second this…. I always bring home extra Broccoli salad.

Valentina's in Buda is excellent. Tex Mex BBQ, and the head smoker/chef is an Aaron Franklin disciple. Also, just country roads from Dripping to Buda, so you can skip going into Austin proper.
Beaux's Seafood in Buda is an excellent food trailer located next to the best beer selection in Austin, Beer Geek. They have low key outdoor seating.
Finally, I'd recommend Cypress Grille in south Austin. Excellent, genuine Cajun food.
DAI DUE
It is a must stop! I had one of the best meals in my life there - top 3 of all time, easily.
And it is run by Jesse Griffiths (fellow THF member).
